I can't PM you since you don't have enough posts Old Dogg, but what happened? I was paralyzed shortly from a broken L1, L2, and L3 but regained the feeling in the next few days.

Sorry about thread crashing too.
Motorcycle accident not at fault. Among other things crushed lower legs and feet like shattered glass. Non-union of bones, bone graphs, 5 surgeries.
Never was supposed to walk unassisted again.
I do most days.
Still ride.

Motorcycle accident here too, except it was motocross. Too many injuries, can't ride anymore, I can barely make it through the day without pain medication especially in the Winter or rainy days, what Winter we have down here anyways.

If at all it might have been taking a corner too fast or something beginerish like that, but probably not trying to top it out on a airstrip.
I would open up a 3.0l Aerostar... and I'd race a M5... but because my Aerostar can't get past 75, I'd be able to stop safely... while the M5 hurled 140 mph into a bunch trees, while my friends laugh.

I still say they dzervdit... Darwin did a little bit of house cleaning.

Well, I feel bad for the families and the other kids... but it was an act of pure stupidity on their part.

two years back, when one of my friends wanted to top out his Audi and asked me and a couple buddies to ride with him, i promptly said no. a few others did ride with him though. they got it up to 145. i would never trust any teen operating a street vehicle at those speeds, no matter what. and this story is the EXACT reason i said no. it can happen so quickly, the short thrill of 150 mph just isnt worth the risk of losing everything.

What a waste of a nice car.

I feel badly only for the indirect victims.

I may be able to shed some light on how they went off the runway.

A couple of years ago I used to drive down the runways at my local general aviation airport. Before you start bashing me, I am a pilot and I know the airport very well. Also I always had a handheld transceiver with me so I would know if any planes were coming in or out. Small airport with no night traffic and unattended = a good time (to a moron like myself). Anyway, I would go out there every now and then and haul *** down the runways. They're only 3000' though so I probably didn't get over 75 or 80 mph. One time I took a buddy's 5.0 out there and I think I only got up to 90.

It is very hard to tell when the runway ends. Even being a pilot and knowing the airport, it is still difficult to tell when you need to start slowing down. I believe the airport this happened at was private, so there's a good chance that the runway lights weren't turned on. Like I said, even with the "runway end" lights, it is still hard to tell when to stop. Without them it would be impossible.

After seeing what happened to these kids, I'm glad I realized how dumb I was before it got me killed. From now on, I only haul *** down the runways in airplanes.

"They" did not deserve it. Even the driver, who was young and dumb yes, still did not deserve it. The passengers clearly were along for the ride and had little control over the situation.

Nobody deserves to die like that. At the least not some teenagers just opening the doors to the rest of their lives.

What a stupid comment regurgitated without careful thought.

You'd retract it if you had a shred of decency about you.... regardless of whether it was a tongue-in-cheek remark.

Thump,

What pain medication are you taking?

Merely curious.
