Yeah, unless North Korea, China, or Russia gets a wild hair, chances of major unit engagements on the battle field is pretty remote.
Urban warfare is tough. too many places to hide...
The only way I see to put an end to that insurgency, is to mass about 1,000,000 troops, seal off each city, and go door to door, building to building, and forcibly disarm those guys.
While that would be a monumental tasking, I really don't see another way of succeeding.
