to breathe clean air ? are you kidding me ? ? ? Dont go somewhere with smokers ! If your that health crazy... stay home with all your little air filters running full blast (using electricity causing factories to pollute millions of times more then any amounts of cigs). Again, you do NOT have the dam RIGHT to "not be offended" . That is a PRIVILEGE. There sgould be places where I can smoke, just like there are places where you hippies can breathe your fresh air ! To tell me I cannot smoke in the privacy of my own home, or my own truck is just ludicrous and is stepping a little too hard on my toes. This, along with the "saggy pants ban in the south" is just becoming non-sense. Who are they to tell us how to, where to, and how much of ? I guess thats why our forefather's made sure we kept the right to bear arms. Gotta love that second amendment ay ?

And again, I am not much of a smoker at all, nor would I ever wear my pants 13 sizes too big. I just think whats next ? We have to draw a line. Freedom is just too great of a thing to waste and give away.

Exactly,I don't smoke and I don't allow it in my home. If a bar owner wants to ban it in his bar then more power to him. But the government has no place in it! We cannot sacrifice our liberty for comfort!

Wow, who said you can't smoke in your home or car? Not I. In fact I stated previously that this would be just fine and I would certainly stand up and defend your right to do so. It's not so much a health thing...it's the fact that it freaking stinks. I don't want to be seated next to a smoker at a restaurant. Why can't someone make it through a meal without a cigarette? It's not that long of a wait for crying out loud.

Bars on the other hand are another story that's way too complicated for me to get into. I see the benefit and would support a smoke free bar over a smoking bar. However it's hard to say what is right for one is wrong for another.

I'm sorry bud, I wasn't saying that you said we can't smoke inside our homes, but in downtown (near where I live) you can't. plani and simple, tobacco smoke is illegal, no matter where you smoke it. Of course people still smoke, but they now have to run the risk of a fine and they have to sneak around like a bunch of criminals. You can get a ticket just for driving thru downtown with a lit cig. EVEN if your windows are rolled up. It is a completely smoke free area. Luckily my house doesn't fall in the "downtown zone" so i am fine, but there are plenty of people spouting off their complaints.

Resturants i understand completely, why should we force you to smell our stink while you eat. But a bar ? If i owned a bar and only wanted to appeal to smokers, I should be able to. A bar is an establishment completely based on putting pullutants and poison in your system, but I can't have a smoke ? What happened to my rights ? Why are non-smokers so much more important then me ? ( sorry to keep playing "devil's advocate" )

YOU CAN'T SMOKE IN YOUR TRUCK OR HOUSE IF YOU LIVE DOWNTOWN? WTF?

Oh wait, I just noticed you live in Ca. That explains it. Ca has some aweomeness to it, but lately the suckage is worse than the awesomeness it seems. No offence to you on that though.

It's not that non-smokers are more important. It's the fact that an action that you do negatively affects someone who doesn't do it. If it only affects you...say at home or in your car...then who should care? Smoking is kind of like driving. It's a privilage, not a right. Just because you are allowed to drive a car/truck, doesn't mean you can do it in a way that negatively affects others. So there's rules and laws to keep it safe for everyone.

Sorry, that was the best analogy I could come up with. I'm at work and it's been a boring day and I'm brain dead. No problem with the DA thing...it's all good fun and a good discussion.

Sweaty BO offends most people who don't have it. Should we then make it illegal? Look at where we are heading with all of these arguments. Straight to socialism.

I agree. I just think we are hugging that left ditch too close.

Banning from restaruants...no. Banning from your own car and home....yes. I still can't believe that's true. I gotta go look that up because that blows my mind.

My questoin is "why the government?" Resturaunt owners will not let people smoke if it is bad for business. Let property owners (including businesses) determine what happens on their property.

Hmmm, I can only see where it's going to be or is already illegal to smoke at home or in your car if a minor is present. I can see where they are going and it may be overstepping bounds and such. Is there something that I'm missing where you just can't do it at all, even by yourself?
