You won't go wrong with that power supply. Good choice. If the 6850 is only 30.00 more that would be hard to pass up. That's the same cpu I just got with a P35 board and it rocks.

Yeah my only problem is it looks to be "in-store" only, so I'm hosed on that deal because there isn't a Frys around me and I don't see that deal on Frys.com.

I personally will not buy any case that requires me to open a door to be able to access things like the CD/DVD drive, floppy drive, front USB ports, etc. That plus it cuts down on the flow of air front to back for cooling.
That plus I do not believe Antec makes any case that is tool less for putting in things like CD/DVD, HDD. I change things around enough that tool less is a must.

Points noted. The only thing I thought about the door is that if this ended up just sitting next to the entertainment center then it would help give it a cleaner look and cut down on noise.

In regards to tool less, I read a couple reviews on the cheaper tool less cases that complained about the plastic retainer parts breaking. I'm sure the nicer ones would be more sturdy and thus make life a lot easier.

I think I'll put off buying the case today as I'm not in love with the look and still not sure I want to build this month or wait for the new video cards that are coming out in February. Granted they will be really expensive but that should help drive the price down on the 8800GT and I don't need this done right away.

What board did you finally decide to go with? Make sure it can support that memory.

Haven't bought one yet....I got antsy, saw what I thought was a great deal on 4 GB of memory and went with it.

I still want to use the IP35 pro and I think it can work...not 100% sure though.

Found this online....

So should I go with the ABIT I35 pro or ABIT IN9 32X-MAX LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard?

Found the OCZ Technology memory configurator, plugged in the IP35 Pro, and got this:

Compatible Memory.

Corsair's memory configurator lists the timings for each stick (look down towards the bottom of the page for the blue blue chart).

Crucial's memory configurator. Found some interesting information on this site about how Vista 32 bit vs. 64 bit handles memory in the Q&A section (middle block, middle of page, use the inset scroll bar).

If I read that page about the memory right (the page you linked from Fry's), the AB9 w/ SLI may be able to use the memory more efficiently. I'm not up on the SLI technology. I can read up on it and get back to you.

IN9 32X-Max OCZ Memory page.

It says to call for each variant of memory. The memory you chose will probably work in either board and I bet if you called OCZ, they would tell you the same.

I like this Antec. That is what I used when I built my wife's pc. I have a taller Antec server case for myself. Both only have the door at the top to hide the optical drives. Neither blocks any air from coming in the bottom which is where you want it coming in at and exiting the upper rear.
Antec makes a good solid case.

Yeah I like the Sonata III too. I should have bought it earlier because newegg.com had a deal running with the case an a Antec PSU 500W for $70. Can't believe I didn't do it. I was going to save and wait for a deal on a true HTPC case but that probably won't happen and it wouldn't be a huge loss to spend $70 on a nice comp case and PSU which I would need anyway. So I'll wait for the deal to come back and buy then. However, I've heard you can't fit a 8800GT in there.

I'm almost positive the memory with work with the I35P. The other ABIT MOBO is SLI enabled which allows you to run 2 graphics cards at once to improve performance. However, I don't have the budget or the need for two graphics cards....just one pretty good one.

I found this site talking about testing the I35P and the memory I bought today by overclocking, so I'm pretty sure it'd work. However, I doubt I'd over clock as I'd like to just get it working first.

So now I'll wait for deals on the CPU (6850), MOBO (I35P), Case (Sonata III), 8800GT (prices look to go down in a month with the release of a new model), and other various stuff.

I just measured my XFX 8800GT and it's 9 1/2" from front to the end of the ps plug. Checked my wife's case (Sonata III) and she has 10 1/2" of clearance for a video card before it would hit the drive bays. She currently has a 7800GT in it and I don't think they're much smaller than a 8800.
Maybe check the specs on whatever 8800 you're looking at and see if it would fit.

Ok, if I read this correctly, SLI is Nvidia's version of ATI's crossfire. Basically, you can partner two graphics cards so they share the responsibility of producing the images you see. Nvidia went a step further and tested products and granted SLI compatibility, saying that they are certified to work with the SLI graphics cards.

So, really, the OCZ memory is just SLI compatable. It meets the form factor requirements of the slots, so the only concern is the voltage and clock... which looking at that overclocker's post you found, shouldn't be a problem.

I think you'll be just fine.
