Who Works the Midnight Shift?

I'm going back to the midnight shift starting tonight for the next 3 months. It's been a few years since I worked them, but I'm actually looking forward to it. It'll be nice not having to wake up to an alarm clock. I'm a night owl so I'll have no problem staying up late on my days off.

Who else works midnights? I'll be working 9p - 7a.

I haven't been awake between the hrs of 7am to 11am in years
I work evenings (graveyard shift once in a while) but I always end up staying awake till 4-5am anyway. If I really have something to do in the morining, I'll just stay awake the whole night and go without sleep for 24+ hrs. I don't know how I ever made it thru college!

Why is 2nd shift worse? If you got stuff to do in the morning or you want to sleep in, you can do it. When you get out of work, it's still early enough to go out or whatever.......
I guess I'm just not a morning person, so anything but morning is good for me.

I work 10pm-7am and I love it, I am not much of a morning person, so working nights definatly works out for me, but when I come home and go to sleep, I miss seeing the wife and kids half the day. Kinda sucks but it pays the bills.

I've worked about every shift known to man. Right now I contract and work when I want within an overnight window. I can work nights, graveyard, or early mornings.

The early mornings work best for me. Get to work about 3 or 4, and off in time to get things done.

I work 5 PM to 5AM, 6 days a week, and have done so for almost 6 years. I was transferred to the day shift last summer. After about a month and a half, I told them I wanted nights back, even if I had to quit and re-hire! I hated working days! Putting up with bosses who didn't get any the night before and want to take it out on somebody at the mine where we load, and putting up with bosses who didn't get any the night before and want to take it out on somebody at the plant where we empty, and putting up with bosses who didn't get any the night before and want to take it out on somebody at our offices, and school buses on the road, and farmers with cattle trailers going 20 MPH, and old ladies going grocery shopping, and on and on. Give me nights where all I have to worry about are deer and a few cows or horses on the reservation! I love my night shift!

for the guys in the USAF it goes like this:

Days shift has the boss all up in your *** about what the previous shifts didn't do.

Swing shift just has the boss up your *** for about an hour. but your too busy to pay any real attention. Then you spend the next 8 hours talk about how big of a douche the boss is.

Midshift you just don't get any turnover cause swings forgot everything the boss wanted done.So you get to sit on your rump then leave before the boss comes to work.

Needless to say Mid's is by far my favorite shift. Followed by swings. I hate days like a red headed step child.

7p to 7a for me for the past 8 years. Wouldn't do anything else. I work my three days a week and I'm done. The times of 60-72 hours a week are long gone!! I value my time more than over time these days.
