another audio/video question: ever extend a HDMI cable?
i recently installed a home theater system, and used a 6 meter HDMI cable from the tv to the receiver. i would like to move my receiver about a foot to give it more 'room to breathe', but i dont have that much extra length with my current cable.
i did some google searches on hdmi cables, but didnt see anthing that gave alot of information on doing so.
anyone ever use any type of male/female adapter to try an extend their cable a little bit? i dont think the small amount of extra length would degrade the signal, but i am looking for anyone who might be able to shed some light on this for me.

extron HDMI 101
This device will allow you to extend your HDMI signal over 2 runs of CAT5
Extron HDMI 201
go to www.cablewholesale.com and search HDMI. I bought a 35 foot from there which would be a considerable longer than your 6 meter cable and it works great. Very solid built.
Here's a link to a 25' which is slightly over 5' longer that yours for $26

thanks for the info.
i had already looked on cablewholesale .com.
i didnt want to re-run a new wire down my wall and across the basement, and back up into a closet where i have the audio equiptment.
crutchfield advised against using any sort of cable extender. they said its the coupling that would be the weak point of the link. they also said they are starting to carry them, but even the rep from the manufacturer warned of the potential loss of signal quality using their device.
i think i am going to modify the cabinet thats housing the receiver, cable box, and dvd player. the dvd player that sits on the shelf above the receiver is very slim, and i have room to spare there. going to take the cabinet apart, and remount the shelf the DVD player sits on a couple of inches higher. its a bit of a drag as the shelves are fixed, but i think that will be my best solution.
thanks guys.
