I may be wrong but, don't you have to 100 posts (Senior Member) to send OR recieve?

Once you have pm capability aren't you still limited to who you can communicate with in this manner to the 3,900 senior members?

Yes, to send or receive you need the 100 posts and 90 days.

So the total group for pm communication is even smaller.

Of the 3,900 with the capability, only 2,100 have posted within the last year, about 01.6% of the entire community.

So, when you get pm rights, there's a 98% chance the other party can't/won't recieve.

Then add in the people who have a full PM box and cant receive anymore until they empty a few.

Of those 3,867, you're not taking into consideration those who have both but choose not to PM due to the retard factor, wherein they receive numerous PMs that exhibit a total lack of IQ or are abusive, or both, or worse. To avoid the inconvenience of having to deal with such nonsense, they turn PM "off".

5-6 months? Holy crap, I am a post *****. I've only been here a little over a month and am at 150. However, if your needing advice, that should be handled in a thread, not a PM. That way not only can you get multiple angles from multiple members, but someone may be out there that needs the same info and...heaven forbid...use the search and find your thread and get the answers they need.

I admin a computer forum that also uses vBulletin, so I know what can and cannot be done. There are a lot of things around here that are done differently than my forum, and I don't necessarily agree with them either. However, keep in mind that this is a privately owned forum, and the powers that be have reasons for everything they do. I doubt that they will change anything simply because members feel inconvenienced by their policies. The RIGHT way to pitch a bitch is to post a thread in the Questions About the Site forum, and keep it polite and respectful. I questioned a policy in a polite and respectful manner, and I got a polite and respectful explanation from the webmaster.

NOTE - posts in General Discussion don't count...........HINT HINT. Making useless posts is going to the other extreme though.

Remember when i couldnt figure out where to take my friend for his bachelor party? I kept on complaining about how i wanted to do something funny/diffrent/grand. Me and D were going back and forth and he just told me to "Find my ***** and go to vegas". There's more to the story, but why drag on.

I understand I can make new posts to ask questions, But often times it is somerthing simple like "hey, I like the look of your truck, can you tell me what lift that is" or somerthing really simple like that and dont want to take up a new post and waste everyones times when it is something that can best be handled through pm....
Whatever, I guess Ill just wait and hope I dont make too make expensive mistakes between now and then.
Time to become a post *****, 84 more to go.
