We had a company {Makes Trucks
} that we deal with require us to ship via DHL. For an emergency shipment, we had two units shipped next day service with Saturday delivery specified. Come Saturday morning, the customer is on the phone yelling at me, so I get with DHL. One item is in Minnesota [Shipped from Ohio to Illinois....how it got to MN who knows] and the other one is just missing. I asked if they can track the missing one-> They said it could take up to a week to track/locate a package] Of course, our customer is not happy at this point, but at least it was them that required us to ship via DHL. Finally. about 2:00. the missing package shows up, but DHL still is looking for it.
Not a company that I want to do business with....

DHL will be ceasing operation soon, 2008, at least in the US. They're still the biggest in Europe. Just shows how low the standards are over there.. lol.
One of their biggest problems is that they don't pay their couriers by the hour, they're paid a flat rate per week no matter how many hours they work.
DHL couriers are overwhelmingly those who have been fired by UPS and Fedex if that tells ya anything. It's almost impossible to be fired by USPS, so few from there.
Dell is based here in Round Rock and they switch back and forth between carriers routinely based on the price they can negotiate. They've been using DHL for the last few months and are very unhappy. They'll be going back to Fedex and UPS soon, though from what I've heard both are taking a hard line with Dell on pricing this go round, so don't expect any more "free" shipping.
