I wish there wasn't a street view of my location.
Of all the rotten luck, just as I was siphoning gas out of my neighbors tank.

Doesn't hurt my feelings, it's a bit creepy thinking someone out there is randomly taking pictures of your house without telling you what they're up to!
that's the best way to have it..

BigHersh..I was stationed at Emery Barracks in Wurzburg from '75-'78. I was a Sgt in the Aviation Section, worked on top of the hill with 2 UH-1's and 2 OH-58's. Pulled A LOT of guard duty there, too.

I'm still under 100 posts, so I can't PM you, but I'd sure like to hear about your time in Wurzburg. It was one of the coolest places around! My wife still rags at me because every time I tell a story about those days, it always starts with, "Well...first we got a case of beer..." (That's REAL beer, gents, not this fizzy water we drink in the States). During the summer, we would fly recon each Wed and Thurs, to scout out the surrounding villages for who was putting up a beer tent...that's where we'd be Fri and Sat

Anyhow...sorry for the hijack. BOT...I saw the image of that airfield on Google Earth...pretty cool!

Well, I know the satellite images are updated. My hometown used to be very blurry. Now, I can see my MDX parked at my Mom's house. So, that was less than 6 months ago.

LOL, yep- I've been on Emery Barracks a few times. My Uncle was a Warrant Officer over there in one of those units (1982 - 1986). Yep, I was in Bravo Company, 3rd ID, 123rd SIG BN @ Hindenberg (1988 - 1990). I googled the site yesterday, and they have torn it down. All that remains of Hindenberg is what used to be the Alpha Company & HHQ's Barracks, the line bays, and the gym. )

We used to run to Emery Barracks from Hindenberg every Friday. Then we started running past Zell bridge (That led to Emery) on down to some other bridge. Friday was the long run day 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 miles- whatever the CO felt like... To Emery and back for us, was like 3.5 - 4 mile round trip. Freedom bridge and back was closer to 2 miles, which we did Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday.

We had some good times in Wurzburg. That's two years of my life I wish I could live over, with my current mindset. Even better if I had a car... A fast car. I tell you, if I were to live in any country aside from the USA, it would be Germany.

Yeah, US beer is fizzy, nasty water compared to even the entry-level beer in Germamny (1898's).

Two years there, and I didn't take a full rol of pics... Kept putting it off, thinking I had time. Next thing I knew, I was trying to get a ride to Frankfurt International! I did spend quality time in the field though. REFORGER, two Hohenfelds rotations, and more Warfighter ramp-ups and exercises than I can remember.

Go to: http://www.google.com/maps

As soon as you see the lower 48, you'll see along the top right edge, "Street View", traffic, Map, etc..

Or, you can go to the "Search the map" tab, type in your address (or the address of someone you know) and see their house from a street view.

They didn't cover every square inch of D/FW but they have a great deal of it.

If they covered the DFW like that, they probably got a big chunk of Houston too, since the DFW Metro. area is actually larger than the Houston Metro area.

*** Now that I looked for myself, they didn't do as good a job on Houston as they did DFW. Looks like they focused on downtown, and the 610 loop, and some of the major streets/highways (10 (a piece of it),6, 290, 59, 45 (a piece of it)

I love it!! So peaceful and quiet.

You can't even get a clear picture of my house on Google earth or maps satellite view, you can't zoom in enough. I guess my area just isn't in high demand!
