Optima battery stinks in the cold

Is it just me or is anyone else having problems with the Red Top Optima batteries in the cold? This is the 2nd time I've had to put the charger on my battery these last few days to get enough juice in it to start. It's only like 20 degrees outside but still.

I'm going to take it over to Autozone on Monday to get it tested maybe swap with a yellow if they let me.

I don't think it's just because it's an Optima.

I have a Red that is five years old in my truck and it has no problems. We were at 9' last night, and my truck fired right up this morning, parked outside.

I have an Interstate battery in my Dakota, that is about 2 years old and it fires up instantly at any temperature. So far my Motorcraft battery in my F150 is holding up fine.... for a year that is.

2 seconds after I hit submit I thought that too, so I added the last part to hopefully un-jinx myself....

Same here. My Red Top is 4 yrs old and at about 60k miles and on its third truck! It still works great. You may have other problems causing yours to drain.

Ordinarily, red tops fire up fine. Let them sit even the least little bit, they're dead. A little cold, dead. I don't know why. My bro has or had one in his daily driver, no problems unless it sits for a week. Same on his stang, since it gets started every week, each time it's like on the verge of drained. I'm planning on a yellow top in my old car to see wtf is all the hype about.
