Fun stuff to shoot at?

I think I'll go to the firing range this weekend, if it's not raining. What do you guys shoot at for fun? I'm getting bored of the same old paper targets. Phone books are fun, but kinda messy and I ran out. Clay targets are ok, pretty challenging at 20 yrds and a 1911 .45, but I kinda get ticked off when I can't get em.
I want to get some steel poppers, but all the ones I've seen online are pretty pricey.

What else do you guys use for target practice? I shoot at an outdoor range, usually stick to about 25 yrs or less and shoot 9mm and .45 pistols.

I have a .30.30 winchester with horady rounds good to about 200 yards +
(3"groups of 3), 3-22's, 6-12 gage shouguns sighted in at 100.150 yards and my favorite is my .50 cal bolt action good for 8" groups of 3 at just under 900 yards. Black powder omega, .54 cal traditions with thumb hole stock.

Since I just step next to the house for my target range, then I shoot what ever I feel like shooting. I like bottles filled with water, those are always fun and fairly cheap.

It's a club range, no glass. But I was thinking about 3 ltr. plastic coke bottles filled with water. I loaned a buddy my .22 last week, I should of asked him for his .223 AR15 as collateral!

Worst part about that, is then you have to go get them......
There is a small herd of does been grazing in my yard each night. I'm sure there is a buck some where, but he is to smart to come out.

Got some old CD-Rs? Those bad boys are AWESOME to shoot at... if you want to get creative... get some elmers or any type of glue, and glue a few together... try it and I can be assured that you will find it awesome what happens.

I had to drag him 80 yards to the hanging tree he is now airing out, it was a perfect liver shot he never took a step. The turkey is a bit messy but he will eat just fine.

Hmmm, may have to start saving my coaster CD's and try that sometime.

Could be a new game too, Put a dot and aim for the center, if they break then you missed. Might make missing more fun.

I've shot everything..

Like mentioned.. Milk jugs and 2-3 litre bottles filled with water are always good.

I've never tried the CD'S before, but it sounds cool.

I always do my shooting at the old strip mines, so I can bring anything I want.. and I don't have to clean up because it's covered with trash anyways.

1.Get some of those small, green propane tanks.
2. Cover it with gasoline.
3. Cover a stick with gasoline.
4. Light stick on fire and throw at propane tank.
5. Shoot propane tank with large caliber rifle or shotgun slug.

This will work with any aerosol can also.

I did it once to a large, 20GAL tank and it was amazing!

I'd just used 4wheelr, lawnmower, truck or anything to drag him, that parts not a problem, but I have a slight fear of frozen bodies of water. Actually going out to get them off the pond would be the worst part for me.

No, I personally don't.
I have before, or shot one and closest I could get a wheeled vehicle that I had to it was about 1.5-2 miles, probably could have got closer if I'd had a 4wheeler at the time. If I'd had a 4wheeler I could have pulled it right up the 30' bluff that it fell off of. I didn't, so had to drag it 2 miles around it then go get the truck.

I ussually hunt on my place, dads, brothers, friends neighbors... those we have 4wheelers, tractor and farm trucks to use. Sometimes I go to wildlife preserves, national forest etc. but not very often. I do know that in some parts of some national forests you are not allowed to run any type of gasoline powered engine. Cant even take a 4wheeler to drag them out with.

Crackers, Ritz, Saltine...etc. Great reactive targets...Postive feedback on hits and critters will clean up when you're done. I've also seen small squares of drywall...same properties of crackers, except biodegradable..
