Shell V-Power Premium Gas

Hey All,

I just wanted it know if anyone tried this gas and if you've gotten any good results from using it (mileage, smoother engine, etc.).

I'm trying it out in my Lexus ES300 97 w/150xxx mi.
When my wife gets home, I'll try it with her Ford F-150 01 SuperCrew w/130xxx mi.

From other forums and using Google, I've heard nothing but good stuff. Hopfully this will help the truck from the random shakes @ idle.

(And try to keep this thread on just V-Power please, thats really all I'm interested in. Thanks in advance) :santa:

I ran it when my F-150 was *tuned* to run on 93 octane fuel. Unless if premium is recommended, just stick with the cheap stuff.

I run it and I'm tuned to run it (Shell 93 V power). Otherwise, it's a waste of money.

I run it most of the time. Occasionally get Texaco which is same thing and sometimes buy Conoco. I run the 93 with a 93 tune.

If you run any higher octane than what the engine is tuned for, you are just wasting money. If it calls for 87, stick to 87, just a good brand.

Great stuff, ran well when I had my 93 tune loaded. No point using it if you are not tuned for it. Once and a while maybe for the cleaners.

Thats all I run in my truck. I have the xcal2 and running 89 octane and 93 in the summer for towing. I don't like switching different gas stations

I haven't run my 93 tune in quite some time.

I had my Xcal with 87 perf, 87 tow, 93 perf. Had to tow so I threw the tow tune in and haven't switched back to 93 perf. If I had ordered a 93 Tow I'd still be running 93 V-power gas.

I used to run V-power in my DD 96' Toyota Avalon. The book "recommends" 93 for optimal performance. Recenlty, I've been running the car with 87 and don't notice that much of a difference as far as it running any smoother\rougher. It doesn't seem to get up and go as much as it did the V-power but I think it may be all in my head.

modern cars tuned for 93 will retard the timing when using lower octane fuel to keep from pinging, which will also reduce power output if your car is tuned for 93

My last DD was too a 96' avalon! I dropped a TRD supercharger in that and boy did it take off. I since sold it to get funding for my wife's F150. You can google it and it'll probably come up in a few different forums, lol.

Yeah, I'm hoping the cleaning agents would help out the engine since it shakes sometimes.

What octane rating is everyone's V-Power station giving out? Just today when I filled the Lexus, it was @ 93. Doing a quick search on Google, the UK and AUS had stations giving 99 or 100 RON?

Just wanted to know if its different in each region of the US. I'm in MA.

That's awesome! I actually looked into that (got the mod bug bad) but talked my self out of it since I am driving this car to save some $$$ on gas. I miss driving my F-150 daily but this 96 Avalon is a really nice car to drive and runs great for having 151K miles on it. My parents bought it new in 96' and I just bought it from them for my DD a year ago, I actually took my drivers test in this thing in 96'... still runnin strong.

I thought all octanes received the same detergents?

BTW, we get 93 here in Florida I usually use Chevron, but I have ran the Shell 93. Both of these seemed to run better than the gas I used to get at Murphy and BP.

Oh yea, apparently, the UK measures octane differently than we do in the US. It's explained on wikipedia.
