I've got bates ultra lite as well. mine have the composite toe on them. they take about 2 weeks to get worn in and then you don't want to take them off

If you want a comfy boot, try the 5.11's That's all I wear. And I can be on my feet for 8 hours and not be tired.

I've never tried the Oakely's. Do ya'll wear you boots tight or lose? I like to wear mine tight but the stitching from my last pair started to tear because I wore mine so tight.

Caterpillar Boots.......

They count as tactical if they're steel toe right? They've saved mine a time or two.

I only got the tan pair, since we always wear tan boots now even CONUS, fortunately ive never had to pay for a pair yet, ive gotten them issued three different times so far.

I would highly recomend them, i wear them for everything from yard work, to four wheeling.........and of course when im in uniform

Although it usually means spending a year or so in the desert; im not sure a year in the desert is worth a pair of boots...LOL

I cannot believe that no one has suggested Danner boots! Every boot that I have seen mentioned in this thread is inferior when compared to the Danner. They last for years, they come in different Thinsulate grams, and they are Gore-Tex lined. The sole is Vibram, and they can be resoled. They are twice the cost as any boot previously mentioned...and worth it. Not my opinion. Talk to anyone who has owned a pair, and they will all say they same.

Its 120 Degrees out and I got 80lbs of gear on, the last thing i want to be patrolling around in is gortex boots that will surely rot your feet off.......think about it.....

Danner does make some hot weather boots, but no thanks, too stiff and immobilizing, if i gotta move quick i would rather have tactical boots any day of the week

Danner is the boot of choice for the Marine Corps, but take a look at any force recon marine or any spec ops servicemember for that matter and 90% of the time they are wearing a tactical style boot from bates or oakley or whatever..........they work

I've been wearing the Oakley's for a few months now and they have been great. I use to be a big Bates fan until I got these.
