Deer hunting

What have you guys/gals gotten?

It's been a 2 weeks now since gun season started... let's see some pics.

I shot a doe today, but the pics arent safe for work/children. (Head shot)

I didnt have a whole lot of time to hunt, so I really didnt see much. Ended up shooting a little 2x2. Didnt really have time to sit around and wait for anything else.
He actually had a pretty good sized body on him.

At the locker right now...cant wait to eat him

So far nothing this year, all I've seen are numorous does and fawns.

I can't figure out why people would kill little spikes and such, a doe is fine or a nice size buck but why the little bucks? Are ya'll just wanting the meat or just killing for the hell of it when you shoot a small buck? Why not give those small bucks a few years and let them become monsters.

I myself pass on anything unless it's a nice 8 or very large 6 because I dont really need the meat.

Wow thats awesome . Where abouts did you hunt? I was in upstate New York all last week and only shot a doe. Me and my dad started butchering it today and we're still not done. We didn't see any bucks at all big or small. There were plenty of signs though. We were in the town of Shawangunk in Ulster county. We pretty much hunt in my aunts backyard.

smal one

I got a small eight point on the last day of archery season in PA. Passed on a doe before that cause she had a buck around but no shot. IMHO a archery kill on a small buck is much more fullfilling than a big one with a rifle, dont get me wrong ill be taking up arms with everyone else on monday. Im just hooked on archery.Good luck to everyone!

Im more concerned with the meat. Sure its nice to get a big ol buck now and then, but I love deer jerky

I didnt have a whole lot of time to hunt this year, and still didnt have anything by the last day and had not much time on that day either, so I was pretty much out to shoot darn near the first thing I saw.
Just so happens I saw two doe and this lil buck...the lil buck had the biggest body so I went for him.

You can always shoot a trophy buck to hang on your wall for your buddies to drool over, but Ill be damned if I run out of meat because I shot a small deer

Couldnt get out this year, but two weeks before rifle season opened I was out shootin geese and ducks and had a white-tail less than ten feet away from me.

Just happened to be walkin out to my usuall spot on a flooded point and caught this one getting a drink of water, looked down the barrel of the 12ga and just thought about it for a second (or two ) Even called my buddy to check is the shotgun season was open.

It didnt move for about 45 minutes, I even fired at a duck and the thing just stood there motionless.

Pretty crappy pic from my phone, you can kinda see it in the middle.
