I had a guy with a Chevy ask me in the Walmart parking lot if I wanted to trade trucks - it was hard to stay polite.

While hanging out in the hospital this week we were talking about this.
My family and friends has a good variety of chevy dodge but mostly fords. Several of them just got back form an annual elk hunting trip in colorado the yalways go on. With ranges from 3/4-1 tons pulling 30-34' travel trailers and each one had a trailer with a suzuki samauri behind the travel trailer. This is an annual event and they all have similar set ups.

I know there was
1 F250 10 cyl
1 F350 7.2 SD
1 Dodge diesel
1 Duramax

All pulling similar trailers loads.
What each and everyone said, "It's a level playing field."
They all got close to the same Gas mileage, no one lagged behind in the convoy, even through the mountinas and they all made it there and back. No one seemed to be struggeling any more than the others.

It comes down to personal taste, plain and simple.
They are all machines and they all will break eventually, no one is exempt from that either.
How ever Chevy is cheaper to buy parts for.
Ford is next
Then dodge is most expensive to work on.

I personally like the ride of Ford better, thats my personal opinion. It cant be proven.
I also like the looks better than chevy, but like dodge looks more. How ever not enough to pay the extra cost to repair a dodge when it does break. Again persoanl opinion so cant be proven.
I also dont like the interior of Dodge as much. Personal opinion cant be proven,
Gas engines I prefer Fords modern stroked engines better than past and like chevy;s older strokes more than thier present. Right now fords stroke is a good universal stroke meeting my needs of daily driving and still have enough torque to get a load going with out losing top end, over any optional stroked engine. This stroke seems to meet my needs better, again personal opinion, it cant be proven.
I do like Chevys dual climate control, but not enough to give up ride, looks, and the stroke of the ford engine that I enjoy out of my own opinion

02XLT4X4: I towed a 6,000lbs trailer all the way from GA, to KS, and never seen any lag in the gears. The only thing that pissed me off was when it was in cruise, it wouldd kick down harder than need be in the 10nasee mountains. Not the trucks fault, or the engine, just the programming. But, if a 5.7 stayed up with a 5.4, I dont think that is exactly anything to brag about considering. I pushed my pedal down, watched the tac go up, and my gas bill go up too. Thanks.

If you combine both GM brands (GMC and Chevrolet) they easily outsell Ford, demand has alot to do with their resale value.
Him, well then why dont we add lincoln trucks, and Mazada trucks ? I can assure you for would win. Lets go with the 150 and 1500.

Both trucks maintain 55 mph on the nose with the cruise on and OD off, just his will do it without downshifting as much, like you said it is all in the programming. He cruise has more of a governer setup (like a lawnmower or the tractor were were towing) that uses the throttle to maintain speed under a load, it seems I have more of a downshift trigger. Both trucks towed the 6500+ load with ease, so I can't really say I blew him out of the water or vise versa. I think my truck with his setup would be governer-type awesome, it seems every hill I went over I grabbed at least one gear, it would take a pretty mean hill for his to do the same.

I have only seen 2 lincoln trucks on the street, I don't think they made enough to save ya. Mazda trucks would go under the Ranger category, which would do nothing for the F-Series collumn.

Alright. Well, the only way to prove it, would be to take each vehicle apart, piece by piece. I think it has been done... but, I'll keep my mouth closed on this one.

GM does have more truck sales but down here i see more fords than anything and then GM and Dodge are kinda hard to decide, but definitely more Fords

and with 3/4 and 1 ton pickups.....Ford just owns that category

What are we trying to prove? That a 10 year older GMC dares to do the same work with the same ease as an F-150?
