Hey!
Hey!
Hey guys, this is my first post here. But ive been a memeber for a little while. I've got a few questions of my own now. I own a 2002 FX f-150 this x-mas i plan on putting a 3in body lift on it. Would it looks stupid without a leveling kit also? Also i was wondering what the biggest tires i can go without taking any chances on rubbing (would it be alot better with the leveling kit if so ill just get one also). I want to use my stock rims as of now. Somebody show me a link to the tires that i could use. Im fairly new at this truck thing, i just traded my ls1 trans AM off for this. Also if anybody cares i plan on putting a guard on. But im not sure what would look good with a body kit? One last thing can somebody post a picture of a body lift with a leveling kit please. I hope mine will look good
Thank you for your time

I think it'll look stupid to have a body lift and no leveling kit. As far as which tires you should get i suggest on getting Toyo M/T after you put on a leveling kit because that's the only you'll fit 35" on your truck without going for a body and/or suspension left. In other words if you put tires first you'll only be able to fit 33" or maybe not even that. After you put a leveling kit you could fit 35" with minor trimming. You'll want to invest into a leveling kit before you buy tires to avoid owning to set's 33" and 35". You're looking at about $120 for the leveling kit, save money and do it yourself using a how-to found somewhere on this site. Body kits with labor you're probably looking at about $1k-$1300. 35" M/T's should be about 1-2k. I could be completely wrong about everything but I'm sure someone will correct my wrongs.
Honestly, unless you have money to burn, I wouldn't worry about tires until you get the rims you want unless you plan on keeping the stock rims or sticking with 16" rims for a couple of years.
Personally I hate body lfts, they create more problems than they fix and look silly IMO. I have never done one as I said I htink they look silly and accomplish little, but think about everything that attaches from the body to the frame. Ground straps, wiring, steering, linkages. All of that and then some has to be contended with. I haven't looked at the kits, but do they come with everything to extend all of that? Or is that an additional cost that you'll run into once you get started?
Then you've still got a gap bewteen the body and frame that you'll have to fill in to complete the look. Few things look tackier and more incomplete than being able to see what is on the other side of a truck by looking between the frame and the bed. Most obvious in the fender wells. Thats just my opinion, it's your money and your truck, but I'd save for a suspesnion lift for tire and ground clearance.

Ok so far you guys have been alot of help. Any more tips are more than welcome. My family owns a muffler/break shop (with a few lifts). So i do intend to do everything myself. A body lift isn't hard i've already been shown how to do that. Again thanks for all the help. Another question i got now that you answered all my others. Is would it look stupid with 35's and only a body lift with a leveling kit?
Sorry if im asking to many questions i just dont want to buy everything and end up hating myself for it.

This Thread explains it, it's good for about an 1 1/2" of lift.
I could be wrong but dont you have to contend with the torsion bar in a body lift?
