well my dad is going to drive the truck so he will pay for insuarnce on it, and if i do drive it will be just around town so ill only have to fill it up once in a while, and the insurance on the car is like 90 a month. also i drive like 200+ miles back and forth to school a week, so that will only coast me like 30 in the honda so ill save 50 a week which will save 110 a month driving it

Also, you have to pay insurance on both.

It's gonna take a while for that car to 'pay for itself.'

This is true, but the immediate change as far as fuel cost every week will help till it DOES pay for itself.

I drive 100 miles a day to get to and from work. I have to work 1 full week with 2 hours of OT to pay for the fuel in my Fiddy. Basically, I work one full week for gas to get a paycheck for 3 weeks of work......is that worded right?

If I could afford a beater, and save money on gas, I would. Just for the immediate change as far as fuel cost.

Insurance. My driving record is pretty clean, and liabilty insurance for a POS beater wouldn't cost too much.

So, in theory, I'd save money .... sorda.

2000/110 it will pay for itself in 18 months, but that will really be like over two years becuase i durring the summer i only drive like 70 miles i week. i live like 5 miles from work.

A Honda though? Gas prices forcing us to drive them, yikes. I woulda picked up a escort zx2 or something. I'd rather walk or ride my bike than be seen in a jappo mobile. That's just me though.

Welcome to the club...

When not in the body shop I drive one of two Hondas. The wife gets the other... They may not be American cars, but we've got around 104k trouble free miles on the Civic @ nearly 40 mpg...

I still want a 2009 REGULAR cab (NO little doors), flareside, big V8, 4WD, automatic F150...

Honda, Ford, Toyota, Chevrolet, Mazda, Dodge, Scion, BMW, who gives a flying rats **** who makes the car? My wife had a Honda Accord before we got married. She had it for 6 years and not one problem. A few others on this forum will agree when I say, "Honda makes a great little car".

I knew what I was getting into when I bought my truck. I knew gas prices were bad. I knew I was going to be paying more for gas in a truck, than what I would pay for in a 4 banger.....

All that aside, aman12 is trying to save a few bucks.

Anyone want to explain to me why that's a bad thing?

'cause greedy UAW Americans didn't make a buck, and now the whole economy is going to hell in a handbasket. Its not corporate America that needs to reform, its poor Americans that need to buy overpriced cars they don't want...

That excuse is about as good as Bush's reason to go looking for WMD.

I agree about the GREEDY part though.

To me that doesn't compute. In reality you're not saving anything, you're spending more. But they want you to feel as if you're saving. They'll gladly take your money to make your conscience feel better.
