Yup - a few weeks ago I was taking the trailer I borrowed to do my move back to my friend in Arkansas. Heading down MO 5 just south of Ava about 65 mph, it's a 2 lane road with no shoulders. Car coming the other way, car behind me - and a dog ran out into the road. No way to swerve - only escape was off road to the right which most likely would have caused major loss of control - and if I locked up the brakes I'd be seeing the trailer next to me and probably have the guy behind me in my tailgate. Totalled out one dog and wiped out the under bumper valance panel on the truck. Good thing it was a small dog.

they could have an open season on them for a couple weeks (i.e no tags or limits) and i honestly think it would not faze the population that much.

unless that was a 40 lb deer I have a hard time believing that was a 50 mph strike. I hit a deer slower than that with a 1976 LTD and it did more damage than that. Glad she's ok... that is one way to get rid of a VERY ugly vehicle.. hope they total it for you so you can get at least a decient looking vehicle

I thought those things were tanks!!!!!

I hit one in my S10 coming home from work at 2 am ona gravel road at about 45 mph. Broke it's back, sheriff had to put it down. At first I didnt think it did anything to teh S10 until thr next day when I noticed a tuff of hair sticking out of the middle of the gril and another stuck in the head light bezel on teh passenger side where it hit.

Yep cracked my grill and the headlight bezel. $50 at the salvage yard but my freezer was full!!!

ETA
Well my normal speed on that road was 45.... I may have sped up "accidentally"..... LMAO. He was runnign down the middle of teh road in front of me too, so subtract what ever speed they run form my speed, to get the impact speed. I clipped him just as he decided to jump to the side.

I also clipped one 2 years ago at about 6 in the morning doing about 60 mph in a rented Chevrolet Impala while taking my parents home after a looooong weekend road trip..... "to the same house I was going before when I clipped the other one".
That one walked away and no damage to the car.
I did everything I could to avoid it. Might could have completely if I hadnt been driving for 18 hours.
Came aroudn a curve and BAM there it was, LAYING... thats right laying right in the middle of the road. I stood on the brakes and swerved as hard as I felt teh car could at those speed, but the front fender bumped it before it got out of the way. Little tuft of hair stuck between the hub cab and wheel, febder bouced back out. It thumbed hard, I just knew that it had caved in the fender, and I was not authorized to even be driving the car...... So I wasn't covered on the insurance for it. Thank God it didnt do anything.
