If you are unable to see her going in both directions, there is a way to "re-set" your brain to see it.

The only thing that can't be misinterpreted is in the shadow below. The lifted foot only goes from right to left in the frame.

(which is why more of you imagine clockwise)

Move your eyes to follow the shadow moving right to left and then move your eyes back quickly to the right then quickly look up. You may need to do this a few time but eventually you'll see her direction change.
Finally, a good explanation! Welcome Back!

I dont think she makes a full 360º

Appears to me like she turnes right to left 180º then switches and gos back left to right. Only she liftes up so the shadow of her left leg "camera right" disappears.

She does not go in either direction, it's what you imagine her to do. Look at each frame individually. Stare at any frame. You can interpret each one as either facing forward or to the back. Because it's a silhouette there's no definition to allow you to determine which way she faces, so your brain assumes a direction and from that point you "see" her moving in a corresponding direction. The reason you think you see her going one way (right) in the beginning is most likely because the shadow of the lifted foot moves across right to left (stage left to right) and when it (the shadow) doesn't move back, your brain interprets her moving in the opposite direction (probably because you see her hip and the side of the extended leg on the opposite side). It's a fun optical illusion and it's all in your head.

I dont know it's giving me a headache trying to figure it out.
Most optical illusions I can figure out atleast why, but this one is ticking me off.

If you watch your slo-mo series, look only at the main silhouette and not the shadow. As you are watching do not think about it as fluid motion going in a particular direction look at each frame and pay attention to "which direction she is facing". With each frame ask yourself is she facing toward you or away from you, and you'll soon discover that you can see it as either. Because of that, once your brain assumes which direction she is facing it views each frame based on that.

There is no spoon!

Its a trick. If you watch the image long enough. You will see that she changes the leg that she swings. Right leg clockwise, left leg counter. Pretty weak, and a waste of time IMO!

She is facing both...Look at it from the right leg, left leg perspective.

If you think she is facing away, her right leg is extended away from you.

If you thing she is facing you, her left leg is extended towards you.

Very elementary Watson!

Well, either way, there is no right or wrong way to see it. And in that sense it's rather like those stupid god/religion and union threads, and all the other nonsense that's been on this board lately. It all depends on how you see it, neither p.o.v. more right or wrong than the other.

But yet you waste your time on self admitted time wasters?

I would tend to think that "is there a God?" not be a waste of time if there are ramifications from ignoring the question.

I am personally not a big fan of unions...dont believe in them. So.....I havent entered their thread.

Except on this I want to know why I see (percive) it as one way or the other. Right or wrong I don't care I just want to know why, what makes my mind see it that way. There has to be a reason and I wont except a simple matrixing. I rarely matrix. (where the mind is forced to make a familiar shape out of an other wise shapeless object.) IE Rorschach ink blots tests.... I always fail.
Me: What do I see? I see a mess......
Them: How bout this one?
Me: Another mess. Why'd you keep spilling ink?
Them: This one?
Me: Mess.... Are you that clumsey?
Them: This one?
Me: Mess.... Why do you have ink bottles still?

If her left leg is is extended to you her right foot toes are backwards, wich is why most people would see her turning clockwise.

Good point. You can make her appear to rotate counter clockwise if you choose to ignore the direction of her left foot. Very nice Silver.
