Fixing a Leaky Faucet

We are bound to have a plumber or two in this pack...

Hoping that this is the case, how does one go about fixing a leaky bathroom faucet.

It's a Delta with a single 'handle' that looks something like this:

Anyone have some insight? Thanks!

You might have one of those faucet ***** that are worn out...

I mean, you might want to take it apart and look at it before throwing parts into it. But it sounds like the root of your problem.

It looks like this:

Hmm... Might be the culprit. I say that because we have two of these faucets side-by-side (double bowl sink in the bathroom). My faucet feels VERY different than hers (the leaker). The leaker seems almost loose and it's very easy to move the handle around whereas mine feels like a faucet, in my opinion, should that is working normally (hence, mine is, umm... working normally).

Would the ball mechanism make the faucet handle feel sluggish like my description ... almost like you could operate by nearly not having to touch it to change the temp or even turn it on?

Most hardware stores will sell a "rebuild" kit for the faucets. They include new o rings, gaskets, and the round thing that Manual posted...

Yes, sir... that's the problem.

How that ball works is like a seal. I've got to admit, that it really is a nifty invention, who ever made it...

I forgot about that... Moen offers the same thing. I've actually lost parts to faucets and contacted them, and they shipped it off next day air.

Depending on how bad it's leaking (but according to your post you said you had two), this might be a viable option for you if you don't want to dish out any cash on the thing. But since you do have two faucets in the same location, then it would probably be your best bet... unless you are just that anxious to fix it.

Not a plumber, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Your old lady has worn out one of your *****. Good thing you have two.

Not a plumber, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Take both of your ***** out and hold them in your hands. Rub, massage, and compare the two and see if there is more wear and tear on the one that your old lady uses. If that ball is worn replace it.

I'll withold responding to the '*****' statements... ROFL! Too funny...

Good to hear about the warranty... thanks for pointing that out. Since we have two sinks there, I could feasibly wait on parts with no problemo.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I had a couple of leaky Moen's. I went to Home Depot and they gave me 2 new cartridges no questioins asked. I didn't even buy them there because my house was new when I bought it.

Wow... that was easy.

The nice lady on the other end of the phone line was **EXTREMELY** helpful and has already placed an order for me for the parts. They should be here within the next 3 days -- free of charge.

Thanks again for pointing out the warranty!!

Why would you put a bucket under it??? Doesn't it have a sink under it?

And thats a good reason to buy the good faucets - when they eventually wear out a seal the companies are good about parts!
