I am in the roofing business. We have about 6-7 ford F250's in our fleet. We also have some chevy's. We do not replace our trucks until they near 300,000 miles. Thye usually get to 300,000 miles in 5-6 years and when we get rid of them they still do no thave any major problems. The bottom line is Ford trucks are built well and will last a long time. Yeah the Tundra might have some extra ponies but It doesnt matter. Even the 14 second 1/4 mile is slow when compared to fast vehicles in general. When someone says something is fast I think 11's-12's. Maybe I'm jaded though being into fast cars and drag racing for so many years. My FX4 is plenty quick for me, it looks great, Its comfy inside, its AMERICAN, and best of all its a FORD!

ANYWAYS, i forget who said it in this thread but something was mentioned about how many years ford spent building a great truck , and how short it took toyota. Toyota had 50 years of the big 3 building great trucks to look at in the period of a decade, they "didnt build a great truck in a short time" It would be one thing if they built something nobody else did, but they didnt come up with everything their selves...
More Tundra talk here... Its like being in Massachussets and hearing people talk about the NY Yankees
So it does the 1/4 quicker than my F150....so does my Yamaha Riva 1200GPR Wave Runner and my Nissan Altima, but neither can carry a heavy load.
Who cares

Its going to be hard to beat Toyota Tundra in reliablity if not impossible IMO. Yes, the Tundra has a few recalls, and yes the F150 has recalls. But resale, and reliablity is something that is important to a lot of buyers. Toyota has worked hard to link their name with reliablity just like Honda.
Compare the amount of time Toyota has been making 1/2 ton pickups to the amount of time Ford has been making pickups. Toyota has made an excellent product without 1/2 century+ of experience. Don't forget that the current Tundra is only a second generation. How many F150 generations has there been? How many years experience has Ford had? Is Ford watching Toyota closely?.....you bet!
Thank Toyota for forcing Ford, Dodge, Chevy, and Nissan to make better trucks.
Where will Toyota be after 5-6 more generations of 1/2 ton trucks?
Is the next big three Toyota, Honda and ________?

Where to start.... So Toyota may not have class leadinbg numbers in about any catagory, but yet you mention they put together a package people like. Last time I checked Americans wanted the biggest and the best, and last I checked that was the 150.Toyota is not the reliability king they are played out to be. For every story of a Toyota over 300k I can come up with 2 Fords with the same. I am 26 and I have personally purchased 2 Dodges, 2 Suzukis, 1 toyota, 1 Nissan, 1 jeep and 1 Ford. Want to know what the most unreliable vehicle was I owned? TOYOTA! Total piece that was in the shop every single month for anything and everything. I was young and stupid and fell into the hype about Toyota reliablity. My Dodges, and my Ford have been the most reliable vehicles thus far and they were also the most capable and had the most room. I have since changed my views and purchase only American vehicles.
Dont get too excited about your Toyota resale value either, Toyota has been throwing out rebates the same as Ford has. Only differnece is Ford is trying to sell a design going on 4 years, Toyota is having to discount a brand new model to get it off the lots. No matter how much Toyota sugar coats it the Tundra release has not gone how they hoped. Yeah they are going to sell the target number they want off the lots, its just taking 8k off with 0% to do so.
I have yet to go to a construction site & see a Toyota............enough said!....all I see is F-150's,250's,350's & oh yes, F-450's..........Ford has the most complete lineup of real trucks on the planet period.............
Toyota Tundra Limited CrewMax 4X2 - V8 5.7L (381 hp) 6A + ABS

1/4 Mile (sec @ mph): 14.8 @ 93.7
looked it up from two different places. Now if they say the 2 door version is faster well we have a two door version called the lightning that is pretty quick also and its 4-5 years older!
