What where doing 6 years ago today?
I was sitting at work with the radio on. By 10:30 we decided it was best to get out of town due to uncertainty. I watched as bus after packed to the gills rolled past. After an hour or so the buses died off and none came for my route. I couldn't get calls through to anyone for a ride. Took a bus about 7 miles out of town and again was stranded. Walked to the bus garage, no help. Walked back to a bus stop, nothing came. Finally went to a local police station to use the bathroom. Explained I couldn't get home, they thought I walked all the way from town. One officer, about 60yrs old told me to wait about 30 minutes and he could give me lift half way. He then called the next dept and had a car come and get me. He dropped me off at a gas station and I had to hop in the back of a cruiser. That cop could only take me to the end of his area and called another cop. I had to sit in the back of the car at a church lot while the next guy showed up. By this time lots of moms were waiting for their kids to get out of the church school and got busy staring at me in the car. New cop rolls up and I transfer to the next car. He finally dropped me off at my car at about 4pm. It was a long day and all the while I was just getting bits n pieces til I got home and got the tv on. I had it rough, but not anywhere near as rough as some that day and the following days.

I was in American Lit. my Junior year when the Asst. Principal came in and told us what was going on after the second one hit. I was in my Ranger shortly after that driving to my AutoCAD class at the local community college when I heard about the Pentegon.
I was arriving at work. My co worker told me to listen to the radio some accidently hit the WTC tower. I originally thought it was like a single engine cessna plane. I had no idea it was a friggen jumbo jet. I remembered they closed our office shortly after.
I was at work waiting for my wife to fly back from Orlando due to an ill mother. She said that all flights were cancelled but did not know why. It was later that we did hear of the catastrophe happened. She ended up having to rent a car one-way and drive across country. 6 year seams like a long time. Seams like it was just a year or 2 ago.
I was in school, upstairs, walking through the hall when a friend of mine told me. I didn't believe her at first because she was the major drama queen but we all found out later when they told our parents to come pick us up, early.
i was out in the middle of the timber..starting my first cut my of wood for the season.. didn't know nothing about it until i went in to town at dinner time... and then went back in that night.. craziness EVERYWHERE cops directing trafic cars lined bumper to bumper at every gas station in town...the streets where a mad house and this is a fairly small town @ 11,000..
I was in the middle of a meeting at Whirlpool where I worked when folks began running thru the halls telling us to find TVs and turn them on. Saw it all happen from the 2nd plane on. We all watched the tube the rest of that day. That morning my 2nd alternator on my Honda Passport died so had to begin my fight with Honda to get that resolved. That turned out to be fly crap compared to 9/11. Found out the next day my wife was pregnant, a little boy was on his way.

I was about to post a thread like this...
Anyhoo, I was asleep. I worked 3:00 PM - Midnight, but we had some BS happened at work the night before, and being the last MGR on duty, with no MGR there from 12 - 05:00, I stayed until the problem was resolved, or until the next MGR came on duty... As luck would have it, the problem lasted until the next MGR showed up.
I got home about 5:45 AM. I was crawling in the bed, and my wife was crawling out, as she had to be at work at 7:00 AM.
Lights were out, and she was gone by 6:20. I shifted into "super-sleep" mode. Normally, I take the telephones and everything out of the bedroom, but left one in there that day by mistake. Sometime after 8, the phone rang, and I'm thinking to myself, "Who TF is this?" I answered the phone, and it was my wife. The first words she said were, "We're going to war!" I'm like, "Say what?!" She said, "We're going to war!". I said, "What the Hell are you talking about?" She said, "They just blew-up the World Trade Center, and the Pentagon. We're going to war!" I'm still groggy, but asked, "When did this happen?" She said, "Right now, turn on the TV!!!" I said, "The TV is on- there's nothing on here about this (I wonder what would be serious enough for Sci-Fi to break their programming), so I turned to a local channel, and sure enough, there was a split screen, with the WTC with two smoking holes in it, and the Pentagon was on fire.
I thought to myself, 'This doesn't look that bad'. It didn't.
I asked, "What- did some dumbass walk in there with a brief case bomb, or something?" She said, "No they crashed planes into the buildings."
I'm thinking they crashed some Cessna's into them, or something, and in that instant, they started showing the replays. It was amazing to see big planes like 757's and 767's literally disappear into those buildings. I was stunned. I'm wondering how the Hell did they get their hands on passenger planes.
Little did I know I was stumbling awake into the most well-planned, and executed terrorist attack on US soil, in US history.
Not only did those a-holes destroy 2 buildings, and severely damaged the Pentagon, they also, successfully hijacked four passenger planes, on the same day, at the same time.
Talk about getting caught with your pants and drawers down around your ankles.
Who knew our security was that lax? I have held up the security line in Atlanta because the metal detector kept beeping until they found a metal social security card in my wallet. The same card I'd walked through D/FW and Monroe, LA airports with, undetected. Yet, these people managed to get on planes, and take them over with what is now believed to be box cutters, and an alleged fake bomb.
As Carlos Mencia said, we aren't safe on airplanes... If that dude from here in Dallas, smuggled HIMSELF in a box from the east coast, through DFW, to UPS (or FedEx, or whomever) and to his parents door- before popping out of the box too soon, and being caught by the delivery guy. If a live person made it onto a plane without being detected. I shudder to think what else could be loaded onto a plane, without the knowledge of TSA, and everyone else.
In some ways, we may be a little safer. Overall- I think we're no safer today, than we were 6 years ago.
The only good thing is, if a passenger does rise up on a plane- he'd better do it on a near empty flight. Because if there's enough people on there, he's gonna get his **** whipped. I don't care if it's Jet Li.

I was at work, Boeing plant in Renton WA building 737's.
Production just started fading into the background, huge ASAT machines stopped, the airport next door fell silent.
20k plus people stopped working.
My union brothers and sisters built those planes, fueled, handled baggage..
Nothing was in the air...nothing..
Needless to say it was a very sad day..Never Forget
