if theres lots of different colors everywhere when you start it, it means your harddrive is disorganized, and it'll fix it for you. it really helps to speed up your load times too, i run it once a week.

LOL. . too bad we're talking about it not being able to get Windoze to boot! I get the Dell Screen and than Error Screen. I'm running the XP Recovery right now, but like always, its taking FOREVER!

Thats what I was thinking but according to Dell it could also be a corrupt OS? I actually got through to an American this morning first try.

Nope, he was pretty helpful.

Maybe you guys can help me. I've been running this damn scan since I posted my first reply to the thread. I ran chk dsk in the XP Recovery Program. It completed "Checking Volume" but now it's saying "Running Additional Checks" or something but it finishes and starts over, actually now it's showing that its got some progress unlike before it'd remain at 0% until it started another one. . .

Just let it run to completion.

Don't worry - it's just the pretty helpful cleaning person downloading all your personal info, CC#'s, ****, etc.

SOP.

Yup, its a goner. . along with all of the files.

I picked up an 500 gb external hard drive today just for this very reason.
