For the people who have dug wells...

What did you pay for a complete well service to your house?? I'm getting number of $11,000 for a 300ft well, pumps, tank, etc...

That seems like a pretty good price. My sister had hers done a few years ago and it cost her just under $15,000 to go 275 feet. I just had mine redone a couple years ago as well. My pipe was getting bad and my pump locked up. It was about $1,500 for new plastic pipe, pump and wire. My well is 180 feet deep.

We have a 36 ft dug well. It's been serving us for about 15 years now with no problems... just the normal sediment issues.

300 ft for a dug well sounds kind of deep to go with an excavator... do you mean a drilled well?

A dug well is one that is dug using a backhoe then is filled in with a rock bed and has a casing that is then filled in around with dirt.
A drilled well is one that is drilled using a truck that feeds casing into the ground to prevent the drilled wall from collapsing.

Definitely drilled, and the price tags for it seem to correspond. Actually, from what I recall, $11,000 for 300 feet is pretty good.

Yea...mine's drilled as well. I didn't think anyone actually dug wells anymore. Hell I even have an old (still working) spring house in my back yard but it doesn't get used anymore.

Around here you pretty much see dug wells on waterfront properties only, and occassional rural.

My drilled well is 180 feet deep as well and 11k sounds like a pretty good price. I know ours was a lot because our house sits on solid limestone, so they had their work cut out for them.

I cringe at the thought of putting a pool in, the blasting is gonna be expensive!

we're at oh 536' deep- 11k is a gooood price

I used to live in a rural area and only had to go down about 100'.....my bill was under $3000 :o

Our well was already on the property when we bought it so I have no idea what the cost was. It's down through 300' of solid granite, so it couldn't have been cheap!! We also have a dug well of undetermined depth. Only use that one for watering one small flower bed because there is no power down there and all we have is a pitcher pump on it.

Dug, drilled... same thing...

I just had a 308' drilled with tanks and 1 1/2 hp pump and it came to $5900. Your price seems kinda steep to me..
