Not a bad start with the insurance money though, I spent about $4800 in 2 days at Bass Pro Shops with it. Getting robbed sucked but the shopping spree afterwards was awesome.
I'm a broke college student as well. I also have a wife, kids, and mortgage.
I hate to hear about people getting robbed, especially when they lose guns.
Finish school and make the big bucks, then you can buy a whole bunch more.
Checkin in. Found myself running a few rounds through my XD-9 yesterday as well as a used sks a buddy of mine picked up. Probably overkill since I was out dove hunting. Don't worry I was only shooting my trusty 870 at the little birdies.

THE SKS on DOve is more sporting.....
My first time shooting a SKS, and man it's loud! I was impressed with the grouping of this beat up assault rifle at 25 yards. I assumed that this rifle would be more for quantity of bullets fired not accuracy. It was fun to run through a quick mag with that bad boy. We just need to get the scope sighted in. The scope sits way to high on this rifle but there isn't anything we can do about it.
If you put 100 rnds through it as fast as you can pull the trigger..... don't touch the barrel!
Don't ask me how I know.....
Also dont lay it on a truck hood afterwards, it will blister the paint....
Again dont ask me how I know......
Also dont lay it in wet standing hay....
Well didnt hurt anything but did steam for a little bit.

I have been around shotguns/rifles/handguns since I was able to hold a gun. But this assault rifle is all new to me. LOTS of fun, but a whole new world to me. I just never saw much use for them (since I grew up a hunter) and have never known anyone with any. Now I'm intrigued and excited after shooting one!
I dont like the term assault rifle, they are still just semi automatics. Same as many of my other General Purpose hunting rifels. The term "Assault Rifle" tends to scare the sheepel.
I am hunter too and growing up my dad never had many military guns either. Ussually the few he had was like a british .308 bolt action or something. Looked like a normal hunting rifle. Wasn't until I got older and my neighbor turned me on to military style weapons that I learned an appreciation for them. They are fun to shoot and work on and hunt with.
ETA:
Since then I have turned my dad onto them and he reads up on them often and also has a few of his own now. When ever we find something new we share it with each other and just though another means of connecting and communication has helped our relationship grow.

Tardy, but here.. lol
"I've got more guns than I 'need', but never as many as I 'want'.."
BTW, what gun mags do y'all read and are you sick of the same old stuff all the time?
About the only two I can stomach anymore are Guns and American Handgunner. And barely those. Well, and Shotgun News
I exempt American Rifleman since I assume we ALL get that one? RIGHT?
Are there better ones out there?
I guess I just get tired of articles about $1500 (or more) 1911's in every issue that all seem to be the same. Not that I don't wish I HAD one or three, but ya know what I mean.
Same with $2000 AR-15's in EVERY issue. Nice, but every article is the same.
Just venting..
