close out of photoshop.

copy and paste the font into the c:\windows\fonts folder

open photoshop up and choose the new font.

I get this when I try using the text- Could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from being initialized.

sometimes on some fonts for some reason and I dont know why........
sometimes I have to go in to the windows>fonts folder and double click the font to open the preview, just long enough for it to open and then hit close, then boot PS. Other wise, and rarely do I do it, but your actually "suppose" to install the font in the folder, then reboot the computer.

Still all of that, sometimes it's just a bad or incompatable font, then it wont work regardless, if it's a bad file, then you'll have to get it from some where else or get a different font.
