He probably doesn't even realize he's basically driving an F150

Yeah, he's a Doctor and he's not even smart enough to know that he's driving a farm truck just like the rest of us cowboys.

There's this bodybuilder that I know... he owns his own gym and everything... but he bought a Mark LT, and he let me drive it... drove no different than my XL. Infact, I let him drive mine... and he agreed that he got ripped. He couldn't tell the difference in the ride quality (and mind you, I haul 3k lbs junk in my bed a few times through each month). So mine should have been "broken in" by now... but there is NO difference.

you guys seem to have a large case of truck envy against the mark lt. I dont understand why. It is a ford no better no worse than your f150. Why all the bashing on the the company that you guys claim you are so loyal to for trying to make some money and give more choices? I drove my 2003 fx4 lariat for 4 years, and moved up to the lincoln. Why? You get a longer warrenty, free rental cars, free service, and the fact that there arent many on the road, so you actually have something different. I just cant grasp the concept of why such the hatered towards it.

And about the doctor driving one, so what, he is a doctor, most of them would do the same thing even in their Escalade. Doesnt matter what you drive, if you are a *******, you are an *******, and the car you drive isnt going to change that.

Ok, point taken. Not all people who drive fancy, expensive vehicles are a-holes. I should have said that earlier, and I apologize. Just sharing my experience.

Don't know that anybody was showing hatred, based on your depiction, you paid more to get a FREE longer warranty, FREE car rentals, FREE service... the only thing you are getting free is the fact there are less on the road. Just not a really logical choice for most people.

As an owner, maybe you can tell us the physical differences... do I remember something about it having a coil spring/four-link rear suspension? Or do I have my signals crossed?

It's not different. That's the problem. At least the Blackwood was unique; the LT was a carbon copy of the F150. Sure, it had some cheesy looking chrome on the rocker panels and nicer leather, but it was no more special than a King Ranch F150.

At least with other examples of platform sharing, things were a little more unique - there's a difference between the Expedition and Navigator, especially before 2007. There were no significant differences between a Mark LT and an F150.

You are right there is no physical difference between the 2, but its all in what you want. I've seen on here before that people like to bash ford for their lack of changes from the f150 to Mark lt and they praise GM for the escalade. This is something i really dont understand. The escalade is nothing more than an avalanche with a grill and light change and some painted plastic. They put some badging and nicer leather on the inside also. Isnt that the same as ford has done? Although people bash on the price of the LT, the difference is only a few thousand. Now if i want an upscale avalanche i would have to shell out almost $15,000-20,000 more for the caddy options. Doesnt exactly seem like a good trade off. Sure the caddy is nice, and so is the LT monochromatic. I myself dont care for the chrome on the bottom. That was a big mistake in their design.

Go ahead and bash me for speaking my mind as it seems a select few of you guys do to everyone else with an opinion that differs from your own. What does it really matter, we all drive a FORD product, who really cares how much they cost?

i think the mark lt would have hada chance if it was offered with a larger engine or a supercharged engine, something that made you pay for that next level up.
i think the modular engine with its small bore spacing was a clusterphuck for ford, imagine that size wise, this motor was maxed out in 1997, 10 year latter thay have nothing larger.

i bet the mark lt would have been a hugh success if it was offered with the v-10.

Good call Brotherdave, options and trim are what make the difference. The Escalade played to a particular audience that likes Caddys, Lincoln has never had the same following. I think Lincoln could have done some really cool things with the LT, but they didn't go where it could have gone.

There is nothin about the Mark LT that looks good.

It just looks like some kid won a new F150 and a $500 shopping spree on JCWhitney.com.
