We used to buy it in 40 pound bags at the hardware stores garden department, I'm sure Home Depot would have it. It may be packaged as Sulfate of Ammonia...same thing.

Be careful with fertilizer and or mixing fertilizers. You can burn your lawn by adding to much acid. You should only have to fertilize once a year if that, and I'd say it was fertilized when the sod was layed. If you accidentally over fertilize the soil, then you wont beable to grow anything for a couple of years with out neutralizing the soli which is hard to neutralize.

You can aslo burn your lawn by watering to late in the day. The water drops on the grass blades act like a million little magnifying glasses and burns holes in the blade killing the grass.

Water about an hour before sun rise. this will give the water time to seep and saok into the ground and will be gone when the sun comes up. Also dont water after dark in the evenings. Putting your lawn to bed wet can/will grow funguses and mold in, around and on the grass.

If your watering everyday right before sunrise, then that should dilute any animal urine and push it down suffeciently, you dont have to chase your dog around with the garden hose trying to catch each time they take a leak.

As you are trying to set your lawn, you will want your sod bascially floating in a thick mud each morning until the roots take hold. You are basically outdoor large scale aqua bedding, until they can get the nutrients they need.

I have had great luck with the spray on Golf Green fertilizer (after trying several different granular types), it is super easy to apply to, Crappy tire has it.

Thanks. I will head over to Home Depot and Canadian Tire after lunch. Its getting ready to rain again this afternoon I can see the dark clouds just north of here. It rained all night pretty hard. I was just out in the back yard and you can hear the water under my sandals so the grass is soaked.

Whens a good time to fertilize?? After the water drys up on the lawn (hopefully in a few days)or do it when the grass is soaked like today??

Granular fertilizer usually needs wet grass to stick to. Just read the bag to make sure.
