Gotta love tech support....

Here's the transcript of a chat I just ended trying to figure out why my cell phone won't send pics to my email now....

*-DENISE D: I am trying to send a picture to my email but I keep getting an error that the pic can't be sent.
Nigel_G: To *-DENISE D Welcome to the New AT&T, Data Support Live Chat!so you are trying to send a picture to your email how are you sending this.
*-DENISE D: I am going into the pic, hitting 'send in msg' and then typing my email addy in "one time entry". I have also tried using a stored email addy and neither are working.
Nigel_G: To *-DENISE D what device are you using
*-DENISE D: Razr
Nigel_G: Whisper to *-DENISE D ok I have looked over teh account and you only have a text message plan. Which means that you can only send text messages
*-DENISE D: Whisper to Nigel_G Did this change? I was able to send pics before
Nigel_G: Whisper to *-DENISE D You need a Multimedia plan to send a picture message
*-DENISE D: Okay, but now I'm wondering if this changed? Again, I was able to send pics before.
Nigel_G: Whisper to *-DENISE D I understand that you may have been able to before but right not you account is not setup to send picture messages.
*-DENISE D: Whisper to Nigel_G So is this something that may have been changed with the move from Cingular to AT&T or did someone change this on my account manually?
Nigel_G: To *-DENISE D With out the correct plan you can only send text messages did you wish to Change your plan to included picture messages
*-DENISE D: Is this going to cost me more? That's kind of what I'm trying to figure out here. What would have changed that I was able to before and not now? Is a "multimedia" plan more expensive? What does the multimedia plan offer?
Nigel_G: To *-DENISE D we can change the plan to a 200 messages for 4.99 or unlimited for 19.99
Nigel_G: To *-DENISE D do you access the internet.
*-DENISE D: Not through my phone at all.
Nigel_G: To *-DENISE D we have bundled plans the have 400 msgs with 1 MB of media for 9.99, or 1500 msgs with 5 MB for 14.99
*-DENISE D: Okay, thank you but that won't work for me. I'll just stick with txt. Thanks for your time Nigel! Have a great day.
Nigel_G: To *-DENISE D Is there anything else I can assist you with today
Nigel_G: To *-DENISE D Have a good day
Nigel_G: To *-DENISE D Thank you for visiting the New AT&T, Data Support Chat.

Could he beat around the bush anymore. Just answer the effing question... DID MY PLAN CHANGE??? IF SO, WHY?????

Get yourself a cheap Bluetooth adapter for your computer and simply offload them that way - doesn't cost you a cent other than the cost of the adapter - 20 bucks or less.

doesn't the razr use a USB type cable for charging etc... cant you just plug the cable into your computer and copy it that way?
my motorola slvr came with a cable to do just that and it also charges the fun when plugged into the computer

The Razr does not come with a USB data transfer cable, it has to be bought separately. Bluetooth is easier and almost as cheap.

Just remembered WHY Bluetooth is easier and it IS cheaper - with Bluetooth you can access the pictures directly through the Bluetooth stack, with the USB cable you have to install Motorola Phone Tools.

On my RAZR, I had a 512MB Micro SD card. I would put all my pictures on that, and use a cheap 23 in 1 card reader from Walmart to read the contents. It's much easier, and cheaper, if you email yourself a lot of pics like I used to.

I hacked my VX8300 to be able to do file sharing using bluetooth... like a long time ago. I've got a 2 gig microSD card in it and I use it like an instant thumb drive... if no bluetooth on the other computer, I've got a microtransflash adapter the size of the microSD card itself, and you just slip it into the USB port of any computer and it emulates a thumb drive by using a Mass Storage Device controller.

Thats what I do to, on my motorola (??)751.... cant remember what it is right now would have to go look..... but anyway, I use to hack all my phones and use PMT or similar program on a USB cable or blue tooth if avaliable. Such a PIA!!! MPT (motorola Phone Tools) is harder than crap to find a shared, and cost $50 to buy at tthe store.....

Now I just slide my mini-SD inot an SD adpater, slide that into a card reader and browse around, drag and drop in the right folder and presto, movies, music, pics. everything. super easy, no hacking, no codes, nothing!

Right now I have the full main movie of "Shooter" stored on the card plus a bunch of mp3's and pics, I can watch Shooter, or listen to music on my phone during down times at work.

Well, my Razr is almost 2 years old, it's a genuine black one made specifically for Cingular, and if you can tell me where to install a SD card, I'd appreciate it.........all I have to the best of MY knowledge is a sim card slot which has to have a Cingular sim in it for the phone to work.......

My comments are based on that, and the fact that I bought a Bluetooth adapter for my PC for $18 for this very reason - to get my pics off without having to e-mail them to myself or having to buy MPT.

I dont think the razor has any type of expandable memory. 2 years, your contract is up, time to upgrade phones. I used BT on this one before I got my mini-SD card. Now the only reason I turn on BT is to get or send info to another phone or use a head set.

I get a new phone every year. After one year with me they are so beat up and scratched up they are embarrasing to use in public. This one is my first one with expandable memory, that is now a nesecity from now on for me. I can't go back to the old way ever again.
