Lets play "Know your classic"

Word got around that I had a slide scanner. After doing 25 trays (so far) of my parents slides, my grandma asked me to slide in some of her old slides. no biggie, i actually kind of enjoy seeing old pictures I've never seen before. Some of these are the old 110 slides which are a pain in the *** to scan since no scanner is really designed for it, but I digress.

Anyways, among the slides was this one of my grandpa. The year is 1949. The car make/model is unknown. Any takers?

I'm going with a 1940 Ford... I did a quick google for "chevron" style tail lights, and came up with a hit for 1940 ford. Quick search for images of 1940 Fords, and found this. Match, I think.

That's awesome. I really enjoy seeing all the old family picture albums. Kind of like a family history lesson, and I like history, my dad's a history major.

yeah my grandpa has been dead since I was about 10 years old, so getting to see a bunch of pictures of them from the 40's through the 80's is really neat. And since they are slides, there quality is just about as good as the day they came out... same can't be said of photos (I also decided to organize and scan in about 3000 photos for my parents, that was interesting too!).

My dad just finished writing a book of my German grandpa's tenure in the German military during WWII. There are some pretty awesome pictures in that book, and there are things in there I had no clue about. My German grandpa (Opa) died when I was 7, so it's nice to see all that new to me stuff.

'Restoring' those with a little color on Photoshop would be sweet.

Cool pic, I like to see stuff like that too.

Is a 1940 Ford. First year with hydraulic brakes. Quite an improvement over the previous year's mechanical system, I can tell you!
