Good Grief! Is It Raining!

WE have had almost 4 inches of rain in the last 24 hours, and another 2-4 more inches is on the way. Flood warnings up all over the place; glad I got the grass cut on Saturday...

I know your pain.

One wouldn't think that too much rain would ruin a vegetable garden, but it will. I lost everything but tomatoes and carrots.

Here in East Texas we are close to 22 inches ABOVE the normal. We had our insane rain festival earlier, but it did make for a nice cool Summer.

Send some of it up here to Montana, we are burning up, literally. Ashes on my truck every morning, no rain in months. Trees falling/dieing, damn what a summer! Thinks I'll move somewhere where it's cooler like Arizona or someplace.

I had 2 near death experinces on my way to work this morning do to a 6 counties large cell, with constant 3 hour long terenchial down pour.... It literlaly scared me to death and I don't normally get scared easy at all, especially while driving.

Once, the wind was blowing so hard it pushed my truck into the median, I had the wheel cranked, tires were squalling so I wasn't hydro planing, but it pushed me in like a tonka toy. No toronados, it was just a strong straight line wind. I got back on the road about 50' before slaming into the end of a guard rail sideways.

Second time, it was terenchal down pour mixed with heavy fog, could barely see the end of the hood, I was in the left lane passing a wide load crane truck. When we entered, by the time we realized there was zero visiility it was to late, we were in it.... I was wanting out of the lane and on the other shoulder to stop..... He obviously couldn't see the road either and pushed me into the median again. I knew I wasnt completely on the road, but wasnt sure where I was, didnt know if it was safe to stop or if I did and wasnt completely off the road then someone would come along and smack me. The fog cleared intime fo him and I to find the road and me get back on... another 1/4 mile later and I'd drove off a 100' cliff into a river.

It is so dry around here that my neighbors grass is same way... We had a week of 100 degree temps. Longest streak since the 1960's) My spring feed creek has not had water flowing for about seven weeks. It rained the other night, and the creek did not have any water running by the time I woke up the next day. We have been in this house for 11 years and the creek has only been completely dry for a total of three days until this year.

I am just hoping things change soon... we need a tropical storm to head to GA and just bring wave after wave of rain.

Below normal in rainfall here too. Our neighbors creek has been dry since last month, it doesn't usually happen until the very end of August. We finally got a good shower yesterday and it's drizzling now but we're still 3-4" below our average.

We had practically no rain here for 2 years. Some area lakes were at record low levels. Water rationing. Outdoor watering restrictions.

This year we are way above normal yearly rainfall totals, and area lakes are now full, all within a 5 month span. One lake is over 20 feet above normal. I haven't had to water my yard all year. What a difference a few months of rain makes.

I just saw pictures of Shelby, Ohio---the entire town is flooded. The little creek that runs through the town and by the football field is now flooding the police station, the fire station, the bd. of ed., the high school and the middle school.

Yep.

We've seen it here in East Texas too. It was a mess for awhile, but the plants are loving it. Like Stealth said, I haven't watered my "yard" all year so far.

After the drought we had, I welcome the rain, but it sux at the same time.
