if i could find a 1/4 mile time for a 1971 429 mustang it would blow away all other cars the 1971 351 ran 13.8
the 429 had 450 lb-ft. the only way to get that kind of power today is with diesel or a supercharger

Wrong again, I could find a whole list of naturally aspirated engines that make more torque than that, and todays engines are rated by SAE Net not gross numbers. Here are some examples for you.
Mercedes Benz E63
EngineAMG-built 6.3L 32-valve V-8 engineNet power507 hp @ 6,800 rpmNet torque465 lb-ft @ 5,200 rpm

Chevrolet Corvette Z06
Inside every Z06 is an LS7 aluminum-block V8. It puts out an SAE-certified (Society of Automotive Engineers) 505 hp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque.

BMW 760Li
Liter/type 6.0/V-12

Bore/stroke 3.50/3.15 in

Nominal output/rpm 438 @ 6000 hp

Max torque @ rpm 444 @ 3950 lb-ft

Compression ratio 11.3 :1

Fuel grade Unleaded premium

There are several other vehicles as well. Do a little research before you post rediculous statements.

Who cares how fast a stock '71 Stang was. First corner it would be on its side or in the ditch. Great looking cars, I LOVE old iron, but they handled like ****, drank gas and in most cases leave you maimed after an accident...

So, now who's ready to get off topic here. This is getting old...

Jamz? Hersh? Wanna post some honeys standing next to a '71 or something?

Well, I tried to find a hottie and a 71, but apparently hotties think they're ugly too...

So, you know... these new "cheap" cars, look pretty good...
