totally agree.

Ive been hit really bad more times than I care to remember by effin retards in newer cars. My 85 Fifth Avenue got nailed by a then new 01 Alero. I had a dent in the fender and a bent rim, his front end was torn right off. I walked away just fine he went to the hospital. 83 New Yorker was hit by a newer Volvo, again just body damage for me, he was whining about a sore neck and arm. The Explorer was t-boned by a Honda doin 80kn/h I walked about a mile to class after the mess was cleaned up, he had a ride in an ambulance. And just last week I was rear ended by an 01(?) Malibu. Slight damage to my hitch and bumper mounts. Her front end was smashed up good. The secret? Real steel, and with the Explorer and 150 a full frame. That honda pushed the body right in but stopped dead at the frame, not even a dent in it. The first EMT to arrive couldnt believe I was walking around and told me if I was in any new car Id be his passenger.

i would rather be in a old car or a truck with no seatbelt on vs a newer car with a airbag and with the seatbelt. the older car had more metal in the door then the newer car have in there bumpers. the newer cars are all abut fuel economy!!!!

My old man has a 69 Bronco, told me years ago him and my mom were on the highway and got hit by some jackass flying off an onramp. All that truck has is lap belts, both walked away from it. Those old trucks are built like APCs

Not too different from when that Honda van hit my Explorer. I was stopped waiting to finish a left turn on a green light. Van blew a red and pushed me sideways across two lanes and about another 25-30 feet and spun 90 degrees.

Just shows how "safe" econo ****boxes are in real life.

you cant put a price on safety!!!!!!
if it was up to me i would have a older truck but it is hard to find one with a back seat in good shape.

I look at it this way. I can add a $300 monthly car payment to my bills, triple my insurance premium and hope to god I never get hit like that again.

Or I can pay more for gas (still way less than what a new car would cost) and have a reliable and safe vehicle.

I spent a summer in college working at a body shop and Ive seen what happens to civics and corollas after hitting a deer. Seeing the hole in the windshield aint pretty. Buddy of mine hit one doing about 65MPH in his Silverado and didnt have a scratch or bruise on him.

I got no problem driving mine for years to come, the body is still in good shape. Got 285,xxx on the clock and still runs great. When I bought this one I could have had a 97 for about the same price, but cant beat the combo of toughness and simplicity of the old beasts

I agree the older cars are much safer then new cars and trucks these days. Everything is built 10 times cheeper today. Theres no comparison on the construction on old cars VS new cars, older car will win!
