Rims (non-Ford)

My Dad has a '07 Jeep Compass Front Wheel Drive. It has 18" Chrome Rims. We used to have a Ford Windstar with 16" rims. We have a set of brand new snow tires for the Windstar... but we don't have it no more. So I took the tire and I put it next to the 18's on the Compass. They will fit perfect. Now my only question is... where do I get some cheap steel rims to mount the tires to?

The lug spacing is 5x4.5.

I browsed around on Ebay and some online sites, and all they have are those flashy rims... We just want some basic black steel rims... the cheapest of cheap... As long as they have the lug spacing and they will fit a 6.5" tire, I'll be in business.

Enter your year, make, model, and see what you see. Might find the el cheapo's you're looking for.

The F150 has never used 5x4.5". It did have 5x5.5" until 97.

You might want to check and make sure that 16" will clear the brakes or any other suspension parts before purchasing. I would think they would but you never know until you measure.

I would check salvage yards too. JC whitney catalog?

Does it have a full size spare? If so, hit up ebay and local junk yards for 4 clean spares... or find a care with same bolt pattern and offset that has a full size spare.

The new Rams with 20's have 20" spares. If I had kept mine much longer it would have had 4 black 20" spares...

Sorry about that. As far as the steel rims, I had the Ford OE steel chrome rims on my 98. I kind of liked them. Norust, unlike aftermarkets I have had in the past.

Thanks for the warning on the brakes... It's got tiny 4-wheel disc brakes... but you never know.

I'm going to get a 16" rim and fit it to make sure it clears the brakes well. If it does, time to find the correct lug size.

Something like this?

Check the fitment before you buy anything however, you will need to check the offset and diameter before you get too carried away.

Something like that would work... but I was looking for something more along the lines of something like this...

I'll just get some hubcaps or what not... it's just for the winter.

He doesn't need tires - just wheels. A Compass is too new to find them in junkyards, and we don't know what size wheels they use for spares either.
