While I doubt his little stunt will have much effect, I like how he is keeping this property tax issue on the news. Property taxes here have been sky rocketing with some people seeing 100%+ increases per year!! Having to pay the government property taxes just to keep your home is bad enough. Having to always pay an increasing amount in taxes year after year because the government can't control its spending is unacceptable. The government here is taxing people right out of their homes and it needs to be stopped.

It was the gov't that lost the interest. They couldn't take all there funds to the bank for deposit that day and had to pay for someone to guard it.

They can't turn down his form of payment. Pennies and dollar bills are legal tender currency. If they refused payment then document it like video and if they try to sue you you can pull out the video tape and say here! I tried to pay you but you didn't want my money! Im sure the court will side with the home owner.

The guy didnt protest any thing.

All he did was make life difficult for the employees that work at that one office and pretty much screwed all the people who came in to pay their bills.

The people who decided tax rates probably never even saw the guy.

Personally, I think its stupid to protest taxes by pulling a stunt that wastes tax-payers money.

Here is the news article about it...

It cost the gov't about $1000 because they didn't get to the bank before it closed and lost a day's interest
(I wish my account earned that much interest!)

Just think how many homeowners they screwed for $12,000 to have enough money to get $1,000 interest in one day.
