The blind spot

Well, one thing I noticed (or didn't notice), there is a blind spot on the driver's side mirror. I have almost driven into vehicles on the highway 4 times since I've owned this truck. What is the best solution? A spot mirror on the mirror? A spot mirror below the mirror on the plastic? Anyone else experience this issue?

What year and model truck? I have an '05 and have no problems. You need to aim your mirrors correctly.

I don't trust a mirrors regardless of how they're aimed, they just can't cover it all.
I've always glanced over my shoulder changing lanes, Left or Right.

On a multi-lane highway it's even more problematic because of traffic riding 'in formation' for periods of time.

I almost got nailed one time when I got lazy and didn't look.
I was aware of a white pickup holding back to my Left.
Finally, the white pickup shot on by and I started to come over without glancing back. WRONG!

There were two white pickups.

I have an 07 reg cab 2wd. The blind spot is about 1 car length. You can't see much when you turn your head either. I drive truck so I know what I'm doing.

My only peeves on my 2002 are the winshield mirror blocking the traffic coming from the right and the ventshade blocking pedsetrians. I almost hit a little kid running out from between two cars as I couldn't see him until I could see him in the windshield.

I always set my mirrors so I can see straight down the lanes on either side of me. I have to lean slightly one way or the other to see the back corner of my truck. I never turn and look before I change lanes. Bad habit, I know, but with my mirrors like this I've never had any close calls.

my only blind spot in my mirror is anything visible through my left rear side window when i turn around, so i turn my head back before i switch lanes.

I've lost small cars that were along the passenger side even with looking over the shoulder(Mazda Miata).

I use small spot mirrors now, they look stupid but at least I can see everything and don't have to look over the shoulders.

Between mirrors and a quick turn of the head I have no blind spots at all. Maybe your mirrors aren't adjusted very well?

Truth be told I don't turn my head. Don't use my mirrors either.
But I always use my signal!

then I count to four and move it on over.
If I hear a horn or crunching metal, I'm pretty sure something was there.

If'n I don't hear anything I think to myself, "Dang, signaled for nuthin."

I agree this is the way to go... Mine aren't set quite this severe, but I have to lean slightly to either side to see the back corners of my truck. With the mirrors set that way I've never had a blind spot issue.

... in heavy traffic, I'll still look over the shoulder too... better safe than sorry

I've lost or missed minivans a couple of times that were in the passenger vent shade/pillar if the angle is just right when pulling out

1. Take a glance through the back side window

2. Buy a small circular mirror
