Are you talking on your cell phone, putting on make up when you almost run over somebody in your blind spot? Have you heard of defensive driving. RULE #1: KNOW where everyone is around you at all times. Keep a running inventory of what is coming up behind you and beside you on both sides, know whats up ahead, take inventory of cross traffic at intersections. SLOW down if a Semi or Bus is near a cross intersection and you cannot tell if the cross traffic is stopped or not. For example... I was coming up to a green light and a semi was to my right turning left onto the road I was traveling on and something "told me" to slow down. Sure enough someone ran the red light right in front of me while talking on their cell phone without a care in the world. If I did not slow down, it would have been bad. I have seen it happen twice in the last two weeks and I drive less than 100 miles a week.

It is usually not the car that you see that hits you... Unless it is a dumb woman who stopped 100' behind the car in front of her at a GREEN light, while I was trying to get over one lane while judging the speed of two cars coming up on my right. What made me so MAD was that I would have missed her if she was two feet further up. I had a bull bar on the truck and it missed the bull bar, but caught my bumper. Happened six years ago and I am still ticked off...

Anyway ... be careful out there. You know your truck has a blind spot. Pay attention to the traffic around you.

Just demonstrates that 1) you lazy bums never paid attention in Driver Ed; 2) driver Ed sucks.

Your head was meant to rotate - kindly use this feature.

Also explains why BMW, Lexus, etc are equipping their cars with 'Lane departure warning', 'Night vision', heads-up displays, phased radar arrays for collision avoidance, 'Driver Monitor' ( A CCD camera & a computer to analyse the driver's ugly mug fer godsakes), etc. Cars For Dummies, albeit rich ones, lol.

Folks is too preocupied text messaging, yaaabbering on a phone, surfing or digging fer treats in their nasal cavities with their pinkies, to be bothered with exercising any kind of real driver interaction or situational awareness.

Good Lord. We're doomed. Mediocrity will prevail - just like Entropy. Responsibility went out the window a long time ago - that's why folks is blamin' the truck for an operator error.

Okay, I explained I knew what I was doing. Driving is my profession. I have NO blind spots on my work truck. I can see more than a person can with a rear window. However, my pick-up has a dangerous one and I just bought a 2 " raised, angled spot mirror that I affixed to the lower left corner of my side mirror and it covers the blind area perfectly. Wal-Mart $2

Here is what I bought: http://www.autozone.com/selectedZip,.../selectZip.htm

I'll have to remember that!!!

It's scarey than crap too!!!!
Both times I had waited at the stop sign several seconds.
Look both ways and nothing either direction, then when I start to pull out or across, suddenly a minivan pops out of no where out of the "bermuda triangle." Then I'm like; "Where the **** did that come from?!?"

ok, do this and you problem will probably be solved. Adjust your side mirrors so its just past the point where you no longer can see your truck in the mirrors. There is no need to see your own truck in the mirror....you know its there. Anyways this has left me with vitually no blindspot. Right at that point where my mirror doesnt show them, i can see them out of the side of my eye

No, no, that's all wrong.

You fold the mirrors in on the left and right until you can see yourself sitting behind the wheel.

True, this does create some huge blindspots but, damn I'm good looking!

This is what I do too!
Besides, I'm heavier than 80%+ any other vehicle on the road, so I have an 80%+ chance of being able to bully my way anyway.

I'm sorry but, I just can't go with that advice.
It's a defeatest attitude in my opinion.
From the Green I'm looking forward to the Checkered and that's all I got on my mind.
Losers look over their shoulder.

As far as mirrors, ditched those years ago to cut the coefficient drag.

Non-sense.

If you never look over you can't see the fear in their eyes as you confiscate their lane, nor can they see your smile as you do so.

Sissies only look forward. Multi-task man, multi-task
