Handgun Help...
i already own a 9mm Beretta...and im looking into getting a new handgun in about a week...was thinking about a Glock 9mm or .40...are they good guns or should i look at something else...
If you want a .40 & are considering a Glock, get a Springfield Armory XD instead. They were designed from the get go to be for military, LE & concealed carry use. You will find the XD to be better than any Glock you look at for a competitive price.
KC-10 FE out...

Definitely go XD. Alot of my friends carry Glocks, but personally Ive heard alot of bad reviews. Both my cousin and my friend who are police carry XDs instead.
For some fun, go to youtube and type in glock kaboom. It ll change you opinion on glocks real fast. Plus they are soooo expensive.
I mean Id carry one, but Id go with XD first.
SW makes some nice ones depneding what model, and I love my Ruger P89, wouldnt change it for the world and I still carry it with my CCW even being a fullsize.
Next in life is a snub nose .38 or 380 semi...

I have 4 Glocks (17, 19, 21, 26) myself and love them. I consider the 21 (.45) the "Granddaddy". I have always carried a Glock, with the exception of using a Sig Sauer from time to time. Do your research - go to a good gun shop and see if you can fire one. Shoot many and see what you like. I like Glock, but many other people don't.
Good luck.
Good luck.
The XD is a nice gun. Also cheack out the Sig Sauer (spelling?) and from what the magazines say Kimber has some sweet ones out now also, prob $$$.

Handguns are a very personal thing, especially if you're gonna carry them. A friend of mine owns XDs, and they're great guns, I plan on getting a .45 sooner or later. The Glock grip angle would just not work for him no matter what, and it doesn't work well for a lot of people. Me, I love Glocks, I carry a 19. Glocks are definitely love/hate, there is no real middle ground.
In regards to .40 Glocks blowing up, 99 times out of 100 that was the fault of bad ammo, not necessarily the pistol itself. Yes, chamber support is lacking compared to like an H&K USP, but use quality commercial ammo and you'll liable to never have a problem.
I don't like making recommendations to anyone on a specific brand or model. The best thing would be to find a range or gun store that'll let you try before you buy, shoot a bunch of them and get whatever works best for you. The good thing is none of the big names in handguns today really makes a piece of crap, you'll be getting a pretty good pistol regardless of what brand it is.

Im also a fan of glock, got the g26 and g19 and have never had an issue, these guns are not that expensive and you can get parts, magazines, etc. for a hell of alot cheaper than any other gun. For instance my first gun was a sw99 and I went to buy another 15 round magazine and it was going to cost me $40. needless to say I sold that gun I can get 3 brand new glock mags for that same price.
To each his own
Also sig make a good gun, but they are around 800ish

Do yoour research and go shoot plnty of guns and by the one you fell fits you and your frame the best, a gun is worthless if you cant shoot it and be accurate.
As everyone else is saying go somewhere that you can hold/rent and more importantly shoot many different guns.
After that it is all what you are looking for be it full size or compact. Will you be using it for strictly home defense, range shooting, concealed carry, ect.
Some things to think about:
If you never plan on carrying it concealed, get a full size gun easier to shoot, tend to be more accurate.
If you plan on mostly just bringing it to the range and shooting it, never really using it as a home/selfe defense gun, get a 9mm. With the price of ammo and the lighter recoil you can shoot more and enjoy it.
Pretty much the standard with LE is a .40, snappy recoil but a good punch in a small package, high capacity clips that will hold 12-14 in even the compact lines.
My first handgun was a Glock 23 which currently has been converted from shooting .40 to .357sig. In 8 years I have put in excess of 15,000 .40 rounds and probably another 5,000 or so in .357sig. Not one malfunction, not one broken part.
If you take note of one thing here it is this: The the best gun for you is the one that you can shoot accurately and that you enjoy shooting it enough to shoot often. I would be more affraid of a guy with a .22 that can hit his target 10 for 10 than a guy with a .50 that would be lucky to get 3 for 10.

i have a kahr p9 with is a great 9mm, it only holds 7 rds but it is small and compact easy to conceal. i carry a keltec .380 everyday because it is real small and will fit in your front pocket.
i also have a springfield .357 sig they are great guns fun to shot and a whole lot of power, but it is a little big to carry. as far as glocks go my first gun was a glock 17 i liked it alot, untill i got my kahr which i will probably keep for ever. the biggest draw back with the kahrs is they are a little pricey.
