Currently a 2006 CBR 1000RR (I love this bike), previously a 2002 GSX-R750 (I hated this bike, was a torture rack). Currently I'm stationed in AK (in Iraq atm) which means I'm only looking at 3 months of riding weather a year, which sucks. At least I'll have a low mileage bike when I get back to the lower 48 and gives me oodles of time to mod.

If it's too hot for gear, it's too hot to ride

Alright, this is my last post on this subject since obviously you just don't get it. It doesn't matter what kind of bike you ride. You do down without protection you are in for more than some "scraped up arms and legs".

It amazes me how many folks ride without gear regularly in high-risk areas and then when it bites them in the **** they stop riding since "bikes are too dangerous" or they become AGATT (All gear all the time) converts. Why anyone wants to learn that lesson the hard way is beyond me.

I'll say this once. If you ride without proper safety gear, YOU ARE A F'N MORON. I don't give one hoot if you're hot, uncomfortable, don't look cool, etc. You dress for the crash, not the bar. My personal biggest pet pieve is the fuktards that wear a $4.83 soup bowl with a chin strap & call that a helmet. If you have a $4.83 head then by all means, wear a $4.83 helmet. Even the most die-hard chopper idiots are starting to see the light about helmet wear.

Here's some food for thought:

KC-10 FE out...

Previously, a 2002 CBR600F4i, then a 2003 CBR600RR. Now I've got a 2007 Honda Shadow (cruiser). I'm all done with the sportbikes.

I'm not going to bring up the gear issue, but as long as riders understand the consequences of not wearing gear, even at 30mph, 2 miles from home, then let them wear what they want to. what happened to Brittany was a big wake up call for her and hopefully others.
Also check out Ride to die

nice bike, getting rid of the duel cans is the best improvement to this bike IMHO. what can did you get? The Taylormade™ looks bad ***.

Lee - had my first track day yesteday. Tore my poor RT a new one. I was also humbled by just how fast some of those K bikes are. Passed me on the straight away like I was a blue-hair with the cruise set to 45.

I need a track bike. I hope I can fit on a SV650... or any 600cc for that matter.

Dzervit-you obviously ride a Beemer. My brother has an Rt1150 and i really enjoyed riding it. I would have got one of those if they weren't so damned expensive. The K bikes are fast but they have maintenance issues..

I dunno, I much prefer the R bikes especially the 1200S, those pipes tucked up under the seat are something else...

there is a track day coming up this weekend here but, alas i wont be going. i need to get a full suit and boots.

whatever bike you get, get new rearsets so you can use the adjustments to help your long legs. Woodcraft makes good ones.

Don't get me wrong - I adore my 1200RT and it has more than enough power for the streets and highways. But DEE-YAM those K's are sweet. No bike is without maintenance issues, I haven't heard of anything that would scare me away from owning a K-bike.

There is a sweet lookin' '04 R1100S for $9000 on Craigslist...

Sweet, thanks for the link. Next track day is 9/28. Hope I can find something by then, I really don't want to beat the RT up again or risk dumping it. But it is cool to have a total lack of chicken strips on it now...
