I got no problems with haggeling over fines and charges.
I look at it like the price tag on cars in the car lot. It's just a starting point. I don't pay sticker price either.

Did I ever say I was proud of what I had done? Don't think so. But I will say I felt it was the right thing to do at the time. We all make mistakes.

I don't think it is your time or place to judge what I do in my life, especially over the internet.

What is your perception of an ideal citizen?

Was President George Bush not arrested for drunk driving?
Is he a model citizen? He is the LEADER of our country last time I checked.

Keep your comments to yourself about my life and whether or not I am a model citizen or not.

yep, Bush is the leader of our nation; but that job description doesn't necessarily come with "MUST BE MODEL CITIZEN" requiments.

Clinton was the leader of our country
Nixon was the leader of our country
JFK was the leader of our country
FDR was the leader of our country
Warren G. Harding was the leader of our country

and they were definitely not model citizens...

Not judging you, but Bush---and the others---are human---and I am not quite sure theat Bush, as leader of our country, is a model citizen; but that is for another time and another debate, isn't it?

You're right. Not a good example... but none the less, "Model citizen" is in the eye of the beholder. I want to know what makes me a "Non-Model" citizen.

Lack of jurisdiction. Constitutional right to travel freely unimpaired by rule or regulation.

... but you likely signed a drivers license waving some of your rights.

Newsflash, the court system is there for a reason- he has a RIGHT to fight it. That's the whole idea behind America being so grand, isn't it? the idea that we are innocent until proven guilty.

I absolutely guarantee that every single jerk that posted talking smack has either, or would have at least attempted to have their fine reduced if they knew how easy it was. You're an IDIOT, not a "man," but an absolute idiot( read:sucker) if you just pay in full on ANY traffic ticket. 45 minutes in a court house and you can get the points off your license and the fee reduced roughly in half nearly every time.

I would also venture to guess that not a SINGLE one of the people criticizing Josiah have never had a single moving or parking violation in their lives. Get off your high horses and stop hiding behind your monitors.

josiah you are basically screwed IMO!!
I got a ticket in NY about 1.5 years ago for speeding. Here is the funny part i recieved the ticket for doing 68 in a 65 Ya 3 mph over and it was on the interstate with no traffic to speak of.I dunno if the cop needed to fill his quota or if it was b/c i was out of state.Anyway i was nice to the officer at first but he was a complete a$$hole!!I laghed after he actually gave me the ticket for something so petty and then he was real jerk.Anyway we argued over it and after we exchanged choice words to eachother he left with a beat red face I think i am actually lucky it was on the interstate or he may have pistol whipped me on a back road!!
For the ending it was in a small town and the only thing i can figure is that the cop told the judge to give me the max fine.
The ticket cost me over $400 and i got points on my liscense for 3mph over
That just sucked and i did try to get it reduced!!I also had never had a moving violation ticket before this one!!

Correct he has the right to fight it but he has publicly admitted his guilt so he should just be honest with the judge and hope for leniency.
It is all about integrity, some people have it and some don't.
I have got a few tickets and I was definitely guilty so I paid them. It was cheaper than the lost work days trying to weasel out of something I did.

Fight it, When I got my ticket I was honestly only 8 over on an empty highway at 10 at night ( going to meet my friends for a desert party). I had all my paperwork, was polite, and had nothing in my truck to hide. After an hour(an honest full hour talking to) talking to and telling me how dangerous speeding is and only yes sir no sir out of me he still wrote me a ticket and for 10 OVER not the 8 like i had my cruise set at. Fight it.

We need to take a vote to tell redwingnut to move on, maybe if we all show him we dont like him he'll get the point

naaa... we'll all keep him, but it would be nice to get rid of the people who try to beat the system. Fess up to your mistakes and pay the fine!
