Since you have postponed once.... I'd hire a lawyer now....... It's going to be much tougher

Composure, etiquite and demeaner are the keys.
In other words don't throw things across the room.

I wasn't gonna say nothing, but what the hell, I'll help get this thread locked.

If you weren't speeding, this wouldn't be a problem.

I ain't gonna tell you what kills who, all that needs to be said is that you broke the law. Justify it any way you want, you were still wrong.

And the "those out there who differ from the average lemming" thing. That's not how I look at it - some of us take responsibility for our errors and accept whatever the consequences may be.

So instead of taking the lumps you deserve, you're going to waste the tax dollars of California residents over a speeding ticket.

Blame the state, blame your friend, blame the cop, it's everyone's fault except yours. No, wait...it is your fault.

Now, see...there y'all go...

I was keeping out of this, and you guys go and start acting like adults who think someone who breaks the law ought to take responsibility for their actions.

I'm sure anyone with Josiah's history absolutely, positively was the picture of politeness, and the CHP officer was a total ****. After all, anyone who has worked in law enforcement for more than fifteen minutes realizes that the only way to get along is to be a ****, and Josiah has a fantastic history in dealing with LEOs...just look back at his "got in a fight" threads, or the "kids threw a rock on my windshield" threads, or the "they followed me" threads...it's a real pity his Mom the dispatcher (or assistant chief's secretary, or whatever she is) has to put up with a son who thinks the law is for everybody but him.

Josiah, as long as you were being so polite and nicey-nice with the CHP, why didn't you take advantage of the situation to ask him your question? https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=295941

The part I laughed the most at is where he says "I learned my lesson".... the lesson obviously wasn't learned, because you haven't learned how to be a man and take responsibility.

I took this in mind and when it was my turn before the judge (on my second ticket, when I was forced into a hearing). I listened to the report, which was accurate, as yours will most likely be as you already admited guilt here, and when asked to make a statement I didn't contridict it. The judge asked me if I had anything else to say, and I told him I knew I was speeding, I knew it was wrong, I wasn't sure exactly how fast I was going so I'm sure the cop was correct in his speed. The judge lowered my ticket from a 77 in a 55 with a reckless driving ticket to a simple 74 in a 55, saving me several points and several hundred dollars. I stood in line to pay my fine and was thanked by the guy behind me. He said he just followed my lead, didn't argue, and was willing to accept responsibility and the judge gave him a break as well.

I'd recommend this approach rather than the other and just risk pissing off the judge. A pissed off judge won't give you a break. And besides why not just accept responsibility for your actions?
This is the best and basically ONLY way to do this.

Onbelay...what is going on? I don't know you, nor do I know how you follow/know so much about everyone on here but it goes to show you are living the life  I bet if I complete the academy you'd all of a sudden want to be my best friend too. Get a grip, please just enjoy your life. I'm not looking to shoot ya down bud, please return the favor.

Thanks to those who've offered the advice. If only I weren't human, my apologies. We all think different.

It's not too hard for anyone to follow your soap opera life when you post this stuff everytime it happens...that's what's so funny! By the way, you're supposed to do it this way... (take out the "s")

Dammit, now you owe me a keyboard and $1.29 for another Diet Coke. I just spit all over the computer when I read that...fortunately, we both know the chances of that happening, so we won't have to test the theory.

If there is a department that freakin desperate for officers, we may as well bring Saddam Hussein and Jimmy Hoffa back from the dead and turn the country over to the criminals.

If you are guilty man up and pay the fine or go to court and plead guilty with your explanation. Being polite and HONEST to the judge goes a long way. Trying to weasel out of it is BS when you have admitted that you are guilty. I am sure your mom is proud.

It's not murder. He was speeding a little bit. So freaking what.

Do what ever it takes to get out of it.

Anyone on here who is saying "Fess up and pay", you're just mad because you got caught and paid your fine without question.

I have had two speeding tickets and paid both in full.

But I have had two P.I.'s (Public intoxication) and a disordly conduct (beating the crap out of a guy in public for punching his gilrfriend). Spent most of the night in jail for the fighting.

Plead not guilty to all three and all three were dismissed. Both times I got P.I. I was written a citation and sent on my way... neither time was I forced to blow into a breathalyzer.

Fight it Josiah. You pay their salaries.. make them earn it.

That's my opinion.

Yes, thats right! I paid all my fines without question and without all the crying like he's doing trying to get out of it. Why would I want to BS the system when I broke the law, I'm man enough to break the law and pay for it without crying about it! You break the law, pay for it! whats so hard about it?
