I'm not sure of your sources, but the '07 lineup from Honda goes:
CBR600RR
Interceptor
Interceptor ABS
919
CBR1000RR
RC51
Honda has never made a 500cc sport bike that I know of. Maybe 20+ years ago, but not anytime in the present or in your lifetime. By the way, I am not trying to be mean, just pointing that out.

Yea you can get pegs and like bike frame protectors so if you lay it down it doesnt damage the plastics/frame as much.
I got my first bike a few month ago. An 07 GSX-R 1000. I haven't laid it down or even come close to getting in an accident. Its all about how careful YOU are. Go to a parking lot and ride around to get the feel or an old back road. Don't try anything sketch at all. I'm not sure if you have any riding experience on any kinds of motorcycles but I used to race motocross and its still a different game from that. Just don't be a moron man. I know you have good judgment because I have read your threads and anyone who is in there twentys or younger that has the patience to drive under 60 on the highway must have some sort of self control. With that being said, the only two bikes I would ever look at are the Yamaha R series and the Suzuki GSX-R's. Both are excellent machienes and you will not regret your decisions either way.. Be safe man, life is a very fragile thing. And NEVER EVER ride with out gear on. I dont care how good you think you are.

also ALWAYS wear a properly fitting helmet guys. my first year riding I had a hjc helmet that was too big and that's a big no no. I also rode around for a month this year without a helmet.... major no fun to ride. but now have a scorpion helmet that fits properly, much better now.
you say you want a fast bike but, its not the bike that makes you go fast, its the rider with all his skill and experience.
You can go out and get a new liter bike but there will be guys on 600's blowing you away. I can blow away a ZX1400 in the corners and get such a lead he cant even catch me on the straights, my buddy blows me away on his 636 though.
I recommend getting a good used 600 and learning to ride that. When learning its a whole lot more forgiving then a bigger bike and it is easer to learn all the techniques so you can manipulate the bike where you want it to go.
There are guys who pose on their new GSXR1000's and ride the highway at warp speed but come to an off ramp or nice set of twisties and they look like tards not knowing how to navigate them. Anyone can twist the grip and go fast in a straight line, its the twisties that count.
Whatever bike you get, get good quality gear and take the MSF safety course and even a track day.
My bike is an 02 GSXR750. its a great handling bike, almost as quick as newer liter's off the line and it handle like a dream. It tops out at 170ish so its slower than liters but who really rides that fast. the after market is great for most sportbikes.
Me in the mountains of WV.

Also, I would recommend against passengers for a while. If the passenger freaks and does something stupid it could send both of you on a wild ride. Until you can control the bike in any situation keep the back seat empty.
Thanks Jwool, be safe out there. I was much less informed typing this thread. I have a buddy with a 1000 and I believe it's a ninja, it's neon green. I'm no stranger to dirtbikes so hopefully that will count for a little control, he offered to take it to the country and let me take it for a spin. I like to think I'm a little less than stupid so I should be back to type a response
Be safe guys, I know in my truck it can be pretty hard to see the little guys out there.

Oh yeah, by the way, only 99cc off is the equivalent of two of these.

What kind of bike do you ride anyway? Got any pics?

Go here... www.motorcyclecity.com great site, great people. It's a little slower paced, but plenty of great advice in their forums. I'm there under the same name.
