Very nice. I would add a SATA DVD-RW and loose the old DVD and floppy to get rid of the rounded cables. It should look sweet either way though and kick butt. Pics when you're done.

you know I thought about that. but it was cheaper to get the rounded cables. at this point I already doubled my $800 budget. besides.. plus the DVD-RW is only about a year old. I forget the speed but its new enuff to keep.

whatever asus used for their on board sound. it goes to a cheap 5.1 HT setup. I think the receiver is like 110x5 and the sub is like 150w not really sure. it works tho and sure beats the he'll out of those expensive thx certified computer 5.1 systems

7950GX2 vid card? with all those other higher end components, why go with a directx 9, outdated card? You could do a lot better (IMO) with a nice mid-level 8800 GTS or ATI 2900 series. Both are higher end than the 7950, and probably no more expensive.

for $230 I couldn't complain. it'll make do till the 8800 ultras come down to realistic prices

Well, that's a good price, but newegg is advertising a pny 8800GTS for $279. I really would be happier with the 8800 GTS than the old 7950, and pay the little extra. I know it's not a 8800GTX (single card beat 2 7950's in SLI), but it's not far off... and I think it's still worth it to pay the extra $50 for todays technology, not yesterday's

just my $.02

I'd rather wait till todays top cards come down in price. I don't play games too much anymore. most of what I do on the computer is cad and photoshop stuff. with and occasional fps but mastly sims2 or simcity4. I would never buy a low or mid end card. I would rather wait and buy the high end card. Ill probably buy the 8800 ultras when the 9000 series comes out.. just like I bought the 5900xt when the 6800 ultra came out. hell anything beats 15fps in HL2.

What the hell do you need a floppy drive for? I havent had one of those in years. I am almost due to build a new PC. This one is starting to show its age (~ 4 years old).

Don't count on your BIOS flash for your new machine to fit on a floppy any more. Mine sure don't.
Here you can see how to make a bootable USB drive.

I'm just waiting on the PSU now

The Asus board will come with a program that will let you update the bios from Windows.
