Question Acer Laptops

Basically, I can get an Acer Laptop for $340ish. Brand new in the box, comes with a 3 year warranty. Not sure of the specs, but I know it has Windows Vista and a DVD burner. I'd be using it mainly for taking notes in class and for the internet. Are these good computers? I'm not looking for anything speical here and I can live without it, I just figured that for the price it's hard to pass up.

They tend to suck sack. However, for $340-ish and a 3yr warranty I'd jump on it if I'm just going to surf and take notes 'n stuff. However... sit close to plugs in class. My guess is that it will make it maybe 1/2 way through the day before it goes belly up in the power department.

I had an Acer back in the day, and thought it was junk.

However, after my company switched to IBM laptops I actually ended up missing my old Acer unit, as my IBM's have seemed to go through hard drives like dirty underwear.......

My cousin got one. He is pretty much new to the world of technology and didnt get online for the first time until he was 25 yrs old. Anyways he is pretty hard on his "toys" and it seems the laptop is working good for him. As with anything its safer to buy name brand, but hey if it has a warranty and your saving bucks it might be worth it

I'd go Dell if I could, but I'm stuck with buying at BestBuy
All the designs that came from IBM still kick **** as Lenovo's. Lenovo has only built one laptop on their own, and entry level POS (c100 or something like that). The X, T, and R series still rock. The X and T series get solid reviews and keep on winning the comparo's.

My girlfriend bought an Acer laptop, kinda their high-end model, back in April. I didn't think it was a good idea, but she's never had a problem with it. The thing works just fine as far as I can tell..

I can remember when I first got started understading computers, Acer was top of the line.
Funny how things change.

But yea Z sounds like a good deal. If the battery is junk I'm sure you can upgrade it.

My T30 needed a new hard drive about every 9 months in the three years I owned it. It was always covered under warranty, but it got to be a royal pain in the a$$ after awhile.

My current T60 has needed one hard drive since I've had it -- about 9 months now. However, that one was understandable, since it took a pretty good "bump" from my one-year-old son......:o
