I will never, ever,EVER take my gf or wife on a bike.
If you have both, that's pretty risky right there!

The coolest thing I ever saw was this:

It was 3am on a Tuesday in August.
I was standing in my driveway, the entire town was asleep, not a single car on the road. All you could here were the crickets chirping.

We lived on one of the busiest streets in town (but on the edge). The street lights started on our front yard.

Out of nowhere, I hear a whining noise in the distance, it's approaching from the west, getting louder and louder. My curiosity is peaked, so now I'm waiting with anticipation. I could see the headlight in the distance fast approaching, and the dude comes screaming by me at what looked like an easy 100+ Mph.

So aight, big deal, but here's the thing...
He was completely on his back wheel doing a wheelie for the entire time I had him in my sights.
It was the coolest thing I ever saw, this guy should have his won video, extreme bikes and crazy stunts and chit.

Is that hard to do? what I described? Cuz man it looked like a suicide mission.

Well that's asinine right there. You're gonna not share the fun of motorcycling with a spouse/gf/s.o. because "the risk is too great." Maybe you're not mature enough to own a bike yet. I know I wasn't for many years. I got my first bike around age 21, been riding single and/or double since and (knock on wood) have never been down. All it takes is a little common sense, not so much "maturity."

I've seen 18 year old kids on liter bikes before, you just gotta know what you can handle, is all. By the way, I wasnt meaning to call names or make personal attacks, but tandem riding is half the fun of motorcycling. Ask any experienced rider.

i think i am an experienced rider.

and the wife and i just got back (less than a 1/2 hour ago) from a nice ride in north jersey, and some miles in new york state in the greenwood lake area.

man, it was beautiful.

100+ miles, and maybe 1 of them was on a highway.

cant beat that with a stick.

(on a sidenote, over the past year or so, i started giving the 'wave' to cars that dont cut me off when pulling out onto the road i am riding on. i always try to think of myself as invisible on the bike, and when someone doesnt pull out in front of me where i anticipated that they would, i give a little wave of thanks.... trying to spread a little 'biker-love' to counter what some of those rare a-hole bikers are taking away.)

i was 19 when i got my cbr. went down the second day i had it cause i had 5 psi in the rear tire. just have a couple scars nothing big. Alot of the guys you see flying around know what there doing and can change a lane or stab the brakes pretty quick. You feel totally in control when your on the bike. it just looks way worse when your not on it. I never got to crazy in traffic or town but country roads were another story. Thats the reason i sold mine, putting wheelies down at 120mph. you dont realize how fast you can kill yourself. so i had my fun on them but dont know if ill ever get another one.

Driving home on 290 here in Houston last week, and a guy on the feeder passed me rising a wheelie .. I was doing 80 .. no idea how fast he was going .. he was riding in flip flops, no helmet, open shirt and shorts. absolute idiot.

These idiots end up taking themselevs out, and some poor sap has to live with being involved in a fatal accident the rest of their lives. Makes me want to reach under the seat, and just go ahead and take them out, so they don't ge ta chance to invlove someone else.

If they are cutting in and out of traffic, and or travelling at a high rate of speed, then they do NOT know what they are doing, no matter how good of a rider they think they are.

With experience and time you become one with the bike. You are not merely riding it but you are apart of it.
Most riders can do things on bikes that your average driver wouldn't understand to be possible. Still, that doesn't excuse them from acting like idiots giving the majority of good riders a bad name.

oh, another local rider went down Friday night. He's in a coma and may loose a leg.

Yes indeed.

If you are a careful and a defensive rider you might get lucky and make it through your riding career without getting seriously hurt.

A friend was doing the speed limit and a truck pulled right out in front of him and that was it. I’ve had to lay my bike down once to avoid getting run over by a bastard that failed to yield.

For those that do stupid reckless things on the street it’s only a matter of time before they pay the price. Why do you think there are so many super sport bikes for sale with salvage titles?

Lots of little crosses out on the highways too.

We see this all the time, these people really stain our highways when the unexpected happens, and it's a mess to clean up. Just 4 weeks ago we had a guy (Just out of our city limits thank God) that got hit by an 18 wheeler in a road rage incident. 300 feet of stain and parts on the highway, and he was wearing gear.

Jeezus!

That reminds me of a picture I saw on the internet of a biker that hit a sign or something. He was in three or four pieces on the highway. These hot shots need to watch a film showing the aftermath of bike accidents like these. I bet it would wise some of them up and maybe save a few lives.
