Xbox 360 Troubles?

So has anyone had this problem? The 3 flashing red lights problem that indicates a hardware failure? They've extended the warranty to 3 years for everyone. Mine is only about 1 year old, maybe slightly less. No trouble so far. Makes me think they know this is a huge problem that could affect many more consoles if they went and extened the warranty to 3 years without fussing. I hope mine does ok or dies within the 3 years so it can be fixed for free.

My sons 360 dies about a year after purchase. He send it back to Microsoft and they reconditioned it for free.
He went to their web site, they sent him a box to ship it in and everything, didn't cost him a dime. I thought that was pretty good service.

Mine doesn't get the "ring of death" but ever since I purchased it about a year ago, it freezes about every 2nd or 3rd time I play it. It is kinda frustrating to the point I even quit playing it because the warranty ran out and I didn't want to have to pay to get it fixed.

It gets plenty of air circulation so it isn't getting too hot. I wonder if they will take it back and fix it even though it still plays some times?

it is funny you asked this question cause it seems today was the day Microsoft finally admitted they have some screw ups in the 360:

I've had mine for well over a year now and I haven't had a single problem. It's frozen on me less than 5 times, and once after a power surge I saw the "red rings" but they went away after I unplugged it and plugged it back in. It gets played almost every day, too.
