Yea, I've had the i530 NEXTEL for what seems like along time now - I abuse the sh^t out of it - not purposely of course

But it's taken allot of punishment, so far still works!! - as of 6:36am this morning anyway

You know, I've never owned a cell phone in my life? I took my Dad's cell phone with me on a fishing trip one time, but I couldn't figure out how to turn the danged thing on and make a phone call. So I just waited and told him that I got snake bit when I got back to the house.

Rob, I agree. And you live in Palm Desert not Palm Springs. Or did you move? I have no idea since you never answer your IM's.

As soon as the iPhone comes to Verizon, I'll get one. By then they'll be like $99.99 with a $50 mail in rebate.

Was in Kansas City yesterday and played with it for about 15 mins.

Slick, very slick. It's a beautiful piece of hardware and the software is amazing.

And, as you all know, I drink the Apple Juice more than anyone here.

Would I get one? No. I don't need all that stuff. My current phone gets web, tv, etc . . . and I cancelled it all after the free trial period was over. All I need is a phone.

If I needed all that stuff would I get it? Maybe (the all glass face is scary though. I've dropped every phone I've ever had at one point or another and with that thing . . . not good). It really does what it claims to and does it beautifully. And that's really nice . . . but for me it amounts to a big "So what?".

It is cool though.

As an IT manager I come at it from two directions.

Personally:

It is really cool. If they had it on the Verizon network I'd get one in a second. It really is a great device. I wouldn't go to AT&T because their network sucks as does their EDGE data network. I've played with it and used it and it really is slick.

Professionally:

It is a nightmare. Horrible for Exchange support. No ActiveSync support, so the only way to get it to work was via the IMAP protocol. The owner of the company bought one and wants to replace his Treo. Noooo! I would have to open so many holes I might as well shut down the firewall. Come on Apple...know your target audience...you will have execs who want it...help the techs out a little would ya.

Stuff the iPhone doens't have:

• Songs as Ringtones
• Games
• Any flash support
• Instant Messaging
• Picture messages (MMS)
• Video recording
• Voice recognition or voice dialing
• Wireless Bluetooth Stereo Streaming (A2DP)
• One-size-fits-all headset jack (May have to buy an adapter for certain headphones)
Stuff we already knew it didn't have
• 3G (EV-DO/HSDPA)
• GPS
• A real keyboard
• Removable battery
• Expandable Storage
• Direct iTunes Music Store Access (Over Wi-Fi or EDGE)
