Also would they even let the boogie land? Isn't there a safety zone and if they cross it, especailly after being told to turn or divert course, then they are shot down?
There were a few other that struck me as odd and non typical protocol too, however what is protocol for attack by huge robots from outerspace.

Perhaps he was way faster than a regular CH-53, and they didn't have time to intercept? I doubt that though, because when they first warned him, it was daylight, and- by the tie he arrived at the base, it was dark.
Starscream was bad-**** though.

They did intercept him and escort him to the base. It was just another flaw in the movie that you didn't see the fighters do a fly-by as Blackout landed.
They just released it here in Iraq, and I have to say that other than the GLARING military errors (even the little things... why couldn't they use real 30mm vulcan sounds with the A-10? The real thing sounds a hell of a lot cooler than that crappy "movie machine gun" sound they used), the movie did kick A$$. I wish I had my camera, there was a Buffalo (the EOD truck with the arm on it) in the parking lot of the base movie theater... that would have made a great promo pic.

Here's the thing. Modern jets can't fly slow enough to "escort" a helicopter. They'd have to keep passing and circling him (which I must assume they did). He'd have been better "escorted" by Apache's or Cobra's.
An F-15's stall speed is 212 MPH. That's almost flat-out running for an Apache- currently the fastest whirlybird in the US inventory.
i just saw the movie last night. and might i add, yes that movie kicks a$$!!! since everyone is making reference to the military and air force. how about all those c-17s? me being stationed at charleston see them all the time, but seeing them in the movie is still cool. if you haven't seen it, i suggest going to see it.

Apache top speed is approx 176 mph. While fast, it isn't as fast as the CH-53 Super Stallion's 196 mph.

^^^^ Nor is it as fast as the UH-60's VNE of 193 knots (222 mph). These numbers really mean nothing, as they are theoretical top speeds that one could reach in a dive without reaching retreating blade stall. In real world conditions, amongst US Army helos, the CH-47 generally flies fastest, followed by the Blackhawk, followed by the fat pig Apache, and lastly the OH-58. I have flown several multiship missions with Apaches (me in Blackhawks) and we always had to slow down for the Apaches.
We also did some ACM (air combat maneuvering, or dogfighting) with the Apaches, and we were FAR more maneuverable.
