what to do if a company rips you off?

heres the story, ordered a bunch of stuff for my quads from www.sweetquads.com i have used them before with no problems. they tell me that one of the parts is backordered. i say no problem. this was two months ago. the website is still there but the numbers they show on the site have been disconected. i e-mail them every single day and they send me nothing. i have no way to contact them besides e-mail and they dont respond. they charged $500 to my credit card over two months ago. what can i do? is there like a business Bureau i call or something? any body have advice?

as long as you bought with a credit card just call your credit card company and tell them you havent received nothing and they will refund your money

You may also try the Better Business Bureau too. Aside from that, call your credit card company for sure.

Also, maybe try to google it and see if anyone has a class action suit going, or other information available.

Instead, why don't you tell them that you haven't received anything.

Over on raptorforum.com I have heard many negative things about Tom at sweetquads.com
Here are some posts, I would say stay away from sweetquads in the future and if you need any other reliable places to order from try
http://www.techquadshop.com
http://www.kenzcycletech.com
www.geisickperformance.com
www.br-performance.com
http://www.rocketfactory.biz
I would report him to the better business bureau and call your credit card company, seems that helped motivate him in these instances. I don't mind a mess up sometimes, but when more than 1 member on a site has had the same type of service with little to no return contact that makes me wonder what kind of business ethics TOM at sweetquads has...I will never order from him after hearing the horror stories. When I buy a part, I want it ASAP and every single phone call better be returned, and if you don't have time, hire more staff, no reason to make the customer suffer becuase your "too busy"

Sweetquads - NOT so good service

It's been mentioned that I should put this story in it's own thread...

Well after trashing my ITP wheels 2 weeks ago I came home and ordered Hiper wheels from Tom at Sweetquads. After not getting them for over a week I decided to call and get tracking info... then the fun began.

It took 2 days of calling, leaving VM, and email, then calling again this morning. Finally got him on the phone. He gave me this big story about having ordering problems with Hiper and it would be a month or so before it got sorted out. He also offered to sell me anything I wanted at cost just to make up for it. I thought that was nice until I spoke to Hiper.

Turns out he gave me a refund. No notice, no word, no returned phone calls, nothing! Most importantly NO WHEELS to ride on this weekend!

I spoke with Hiper today (wow nice people!) and they didn't even have an order for me. They did recall Sweetquads inquiry about the wheels I want though. (last week) After I explained Tom's excuse about ordering issues, Hiper assured me that it was news to them!

Here's what I found out:
Basically he gave me a lowball price... which by the way is on his web site because that's how I ordered. He discounts 10% for forum members too. So I bought and paid for all 4 wheels. Well as it turns out his price is WRONG and over a $100 less than he would have to pay for them. (I want 9x9, 3+6 offset which are - BAM - $100 more) So instead of telling me, or just being a man and sucking it up, he blows me off for a week!

Sadly, I won't be back to take advantage of his "at cost" offers in the future.

Sweetquads... bad luck with order placed
« on: February 20, 2007, 10:35:08 AM » Quote

Just wanted to let everyone know about my bad experience so far with sweetquads. I placed an order for DMC dual exhaust on the 4th of february. Today is the 20th and I still haven't recieved my parts and have contacted them multiple times and never recieved an email or phone call back. There's no shipping info on their website except for it saying shipped. No tracking # or anything. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Anyone else had this experience?

Has anyone spoke with Tom lately? I made a order from him two-three weeks ago and both of the estimated delivery dates he gave me have come and gone. I have not been able to get a status update, tracking number or even a returned phone call for the voice or emails mails I have left in the last two weeks. Not to mention they never answer the phone.
If they would have had the courtesy to call I could have ordered from someone else and still made king of the sand in NV. The $50 cost savings is not this type of service!
Looks like another trip will be taken without my exhaust, I hope I still have the old one to put back on to avoid canceling again!

Have you tried calling the toll free number they have on the top of every page of thier website?

877-933-8782

If you still have a complaint then you can contact the BBB

http://www.bbb.org/

as well as your CC company

Unfortunately, there are a lot of websites that are run from someone's closet - these types ***** out markets and think is they make a few dollars on each sale they are making money. They know nothing of customer service. It sucks (I see it from the manufacturer's side) because it hurts everyone involved. From my side, I try to weed out the cheesy operators, but it's sometimes tough to tell who they are - until the complains come crashing in.

I would follow everybody's advice about contact the credit card company and the BBB. Also, call the manufacturer - they will want to know about him, although it sounds like he may already be out of business.

I'm not taking up with sweetquads one bit so don't get me wrong on that.

we have customers too that their order's get f#ed up. we try our damndest not to let it happen, but when you take over 75 orders a day (it's not that many i know), normally SOMETHING gets messed up. I work my butt OFF correcting orders and double checking what customers want (because, yes, believe it or not, some people are POSITIVE that they can fit 15"s on a 2005 tundra)

coupla steps to making sure you are safe when ordering things over the phone (or special ordering stuff)

* Read over the return policies REALLY good BEFORE you make the order. After you've made the order, you're on the sellers terms. And IF you purchase something, you're automatically agreeing to the return policy.

*I know our returns process is pretty dang long.
1.phone call from customer
2. Request for an RMA # from manufacturer (usually at LEAST a day)
3. get RMA# and send a call tag to the customer (either mail or email) 2 days depending.
4. get item back to us and check it and make sure the customer didn't damage the product or steal anything out of the box (about a day at least)
5. order new stuff out.

altogether it takes about a week and half to get EVERYTHING completely said and done (taking in shipping times etc)

*If it's YOUR fault (like you ordered something wrong for your vehicle) be EXTRA patient.

*alot of companies now has a deal that if the order is wrong, they will send out the right order immediately. you just have to sign a paper stating that if they receive the wrong item back damaged or screwed up, they can charge your card for the full amount of the purchase....

ok, getting back to work. let me know if you have any questions!!

oh yeah, here:
