Don't waste your time with the Better Business Bureau. If they get a bad rating, that just means that if someone calls the BBB, or looks on their web site, the BBB will tell them what their rating is. Since almost no one does that before making a purchase, the businesses don't generally care what their rating is. If you want to make a complaint with teeth, do it with the Federal Trade Commission. They're the ones that can actually take legal recourse.

I know a lot of people who do check the BBB before making large purchases or before letting someone work on their vehicle. I know a lot of manufactures also check the BBB before allowing someone to distribute their products.

It will do good.

Your wrong. The BBB will contact them on your behalf. And that in turn will get results.
I had a problem with Four Racing(izonic?) with some products and they wouldn't return my call or help me. I filled a complaint on the BBB and they called/emailed Four(or parent company) and they responded to the BBB real quick. Then the BBB was the "middle man" for our communication, once the transaction was satisfied/solved they closed the case and then gave them a rating.

I've never used the FTC,but it seems you've never used the BBB either..so now you know. and knowledge is power

Also, Tom (owner) at Sweetquads isn't a closet business like it might seem. He does do a lot of business, and I have heard good results, but to many negative ones for me to want to be a customer.
As far as the ph#, I think that thing hasn't worked for a long time.
He just needs to get his act togeather and turn his reputation around.

Well, you're wrong in this case. I have used the BBB. I filed a complaint with them, they said that they would contact the business. However, the business refused to respond, so the BBB just put a tick against them; they are otherwise powerless. Like I said, if the business could care less about it's rating; if it doesn't affect their bottom line, then the BBB is a waste of time. However, when I called the FTC, they took my information, and about 3 months later I was contacted by an Assistant D.A., told that there were a number of complaints, and he was considering criminal litigation, and may need my testimony. A month later, I got my money back. Knowledge is a good thing

The only thing I was wrong about was the fact that you have used the BBB. Your statement led him to think the BBB didn't do anything but issue a rating and if you don't check the website first then you don't know the companys reputation or grade. In your case the BBB attempted to get results but the company could care less, this confusion would have been avoided if you would have mentioned that in your post. The BBB may not be able to file against them, but they did attempt to help you by contacting the company for a refund. So that's when you needed to step up to the FTC. Also, you said 3 months later, hell the BBB had me a refund within 1 week of me filing. But bottom line, the BBB will try to help you, not just grade them. I think the BBB is the first place to start, and if that doesn't work, then step up to the long awated 3 month period of the FTC but pack a lunch
